Camel alchemy vs logic alchemy

Why is there always the expectation that support has to go on for a life time? If I buy a hardware synth that isn‘t for granted either but not a problem. If the developer dies or gets sick you have to stick to what you got as well...

You can keep up software running in its state even if your newest shiny high end compy by loading an older OS into a virtual machine... That way I can even use HG Fortunes 32-bit synths on my Mac...

Well this is true, if the dev goes out of business, or loses the code (Adventus) or dies , obviously you don't expect support, but what annoys me is that Camel Audio didn't go out of business, they dumped the VST development, made Alchemy2 and the other plugins for Logic only and stuck 2 fingers up at Windows users.

It might suck but i think most people (at least i would) do the same for a better future for me and my family. They do not owe us anything at the end.
If things had gone worse i doubt we would pay them because we are so nice people.
Of course maybe a bad loss for windows people (while the latest version still works and they gave us enough time to back-up or sell licenses) and a gift for mac users.
It is simple reality indeed. I payed maybe a grand for the plug-in and all the expansions and now every Logic user got it for free. That´s life.

I mean all the official presets banks with the extra sample content.
For me also still the most creative and best synth presets from any synth for the kind of sounds i like.
I remember i owned them all. Most of them are part of Logic Alchemy now but not all.
But it is possible to import them into Logic´s Alchemy.
I also could import them all into the iOS Alchemy app (about 90% of them worked fine there) which sucks that the app does not work as well anymore. The version in GarageBand iOS do not allow import.
Camel Audio´s iOS app was really great to perform with a much better GUI as the plug-in. It was just like the player with some extras.
But yes, that´s life and we just can move on or get frustrated about these things.
I also "lost" my installer and so i cannot use the old presets anymore (and i really miss a few favorites). At least i can import all the sample content in any sample mangling tool i want. So i still get some value out of it.

Of course I can. Just route Midi from your beloved 64-bit DAW and the sound back into your DAW... Plain simple... Hey 40 years ago we could do that already (I mean routing Midi and sound with cables) why the hell should that prevent me from using it...?
Its less cumbersome than 40 years ago... If you really want something just stop being lazy and use your creativity to find a solution...

If its not important for you, you simply don‘t need a solution. But claiming there is no solution is just ignorant. (I have no problem with latency btw...)

how do you run say win xp 32 bit for certain plugs with one host, and win 7 64bit with the same host at the same time on the same pc?

Well, run it in Bitwig... Or run it on a different machine, or dust off your old Moog. Or run it on your phone. As far as I know most plugs which had been developed on XP run fine in newer Windoof versions... And if not just fire up the XP in the virtual machine, record your track and import it... There are thousand of options. If its important you can do it. If you tell me thats too much hassle, then its not important and you can go on...

im sure there might be "thousand" of hacks and workarounds, but thats all they are.

I read that of course, if „with“ and „at the same time“ is more crucial than a solution and you don‘t like hacks and workarounds (I called it too much hassle) Then it is obvious that the existing solution is not important enough for you, you prefer to skip it... Or you are happy not to use 64-bit glory which is fine as well...
I made pieces by slicing analog tape by hand. Back then this was a solution, it was worth the hassle...

See i don't deny it was a brilliant business move for them, and i'm sure Apple paid very well for Alchemy and the other plugins and having the Camel Audio boys to work for them and continue development. And those using Logic, I am glad you get to keep using the stuff.

But I will always call Camel Audio a bunch of ****s just helps me get through the day.
