A brief side question: Does the WUP always have to be bought for a whole bundle (e. g. Gold) or is it possible to update single plugins within a bundle?

So if I only need 2 plug-ins within a bundle, it would make more sense in terms of future upgrade prices to buy just the single plug-ins instead of the whole bundle with many plug-ins (which I don't use, but for which I have to pay for updates), right?

Don't forget to check here for the lowest prices. Just generate a code from your WUP page and send it to them for a quote.

(not affiliated with them, but their prices are usually a bit lower than directly from Waves).

Luckily, most of my Waves plugins are still under WUP (some were just about to expire...), so I was able to upgrade them to V11 in my Waves account. Not going to touch the new Waves Central and physically upgrade them until I get a quote on the expired stuff that I actually use (H-Series, Center and API 2500), since I've heard so many horror stories of trying to mix versions of Waves plugins.

It's quite the balancing act getting all my Waves working properly at the best of times... this announcement actually just makes me nervous.

Indeed waves software policy is the biggest crap I ever experienced since I started using software, what must have been started in 1982.
I really regret having bought some plugins from them. Fortunately I do not own too much from them.

i don't know if this will straiten things out for anyone, but this is my understanding. you enter into the wup when you by a plug-in. every plugin has its own wup. if you buy a bundle of course the whole bundle was purchased at the same time. if you buy them individually each plugin has its own wup. the wup lasts for one year from purchase is my understanding. you buy a new wup every year (it's a subscription). you don't HAVE to buy into the new wup. you can just not upgrade and everything continues on like normal. if you upgrade tho... you only get the plugs under the wup. everything NOT under wup will only work with the older version of wavescentral. so you need multiple versions of the whole shebang installed to keep them all. or, you can upgrade, and then buy wups for the stuff you want to keep individually at a later date. make sense?

yeah, not for me either.

the trick here to keep it short and sweet. don't buy a lot of plugs. just a handful that you can handle. that's how you keep waves around.

But no one forces you (like always) to WUP in most personal scenarios.

This is what they told when v10 released. To support future OS updates.
But these OSes update so slowly, and major plugin versions appear so fast...

The V10 update was a pain in the neck, at least in the beginning, for many of us.
I wonder what are the tricks, Waves has reserved for his clients along with the V11 update?

E.g.: how the V9, V10 and V11 live parallel in your DAW?; installing V10 now, etc. etc.?

This one might just do it for me. I have the abbey stuff, which if I'm being honest is more of a novelty for use. I can get everything done without them, so perhaps now is the time to get rid of them for good.

MY WUP ran out just last month too.

And those UIs for Ren stuff.... they're cheesy as hell.

I've seen people complain about Fabfilter and Ableton Live looking like cartoons, but these IMO are far worse.

I paid $45 for WUP last year (capped to $240 at the current time) to bring all the plugins to V10, which I thought would last much longer as everyone was saying.
I don't know if V11 came so soon because of the Catalina mess or whatever, but as a Windows user without Renaissance plugins, this update doesn't come with much value.

I have several plugins in the Waves wishlist but if I buy anything more, that comes with V11 and would bring the multiple version headache.
I'll cling to V10 for as much as I possibly can, which literally means I can't buy further Waves plugins

At least I got Scheps73 (usual $29 deal) last week just before the doors closed.
That's one hell of a plugin
