Seeing Shane’s involvement in this, I went to the NetVST page and saw this: “ A new commercial product called Unify, scheduled to launch in early January 2020, will be the first commercial product with NetVST technology built-in.”
I don’t know if John’s mentioned anything about it but it might be interesting - perhaps a later version - if you can use this a bit like Vienna Ensemble and layer, say a Windows-only synth with a Mac one across two machines, or just use it to control slave machines when the main one runs out of juice. Maybe it’s possible from the get-go, but you have to do a bit of plumbing to get it set up to use the NetVST stuff.
I believe it’s the Pro version of Unify that will have the full NetVST.

Looks promising!
I can only hope there is a demo available next week?

Hi guys - let me see if I can help a bit. As to rambling on - these are Livestream events that you're watching. Far different than a concentrated video where I'm not talking to hundreds of people at the same time. I have 5 videos that will come with Unify that I'll publish to help people understand everything that Unify has and can do - there is a lot in this plug-in but I promise to keep the rambling at bay.
As to how Unify works: Unify comes with a VST folder inside the data folder that contains 6 synthesizers that I have written permission to include in this VST folder (These are all plug-ins that are free on the net right now, it is just that we have their blessing to include them in a commercial product - we've improved a number of these plug-ins and posted updated code on GitHub and they've been accepted and are used in updated versions of these plugins even). There are also a bunch of built-in effects (4 different reverbs we built + a convolution reverb we have permission to include). I'm also including 2+ GB of samples from 12 of my sample-based libraries I designed for Omnisphere 2 and we've designed our own sample player that has come cool features unique to Unify.
Which means that out of the box, there are 400+ patches to play without requiring even scanning ANY of your plug-ins. Then you scan your plug-ins and now your software synths you have purchased are now able to join the fun and play in these patches or make new ones from scratch. The Plug-in is multi-processor smart so the cpu hit is very minimal but if you have it doing 9 layers with 15 effects and 5 MIDI effects, it will task your computer the same as a song with 9 tracks would. We're not doing anything magical that makes CPU costs be cut in half (I wish we were). Users have found they can do more with Unify than even with their DAW - our code is very streamlined and doesn't call up graphics routines like most plug-ins do so maybe that helps...
I am aware of Freestyle, Gig Performer + Metaplugin but I have never loaded or used any of them. This plug-in is designed strictly from a vision I have in my mind from doing voicing for 30 years with synthesizers. I explain to Shane what I'd like and he writes the code to make it happen - if it's not quite right, I say so and he works to make it right. We have worked almost 1 year straight on this project.
I don't believe any of the other plug-ins I just mentioned come with any synths or maybe some audio effects (?) or MIDI effects (?), we do. And I applied all my programming skills to making patches that sound and play the way I want them to play. We will have a demo version out not too long after getting our baby released. You will be try out all the abilities of Unify with the demo version including scanning and using your own plug-ins. The demo version simply won't save anything - the code for saving actually doesn't exist in the plug-in. It will probably shut down after a certain amount of time as well, but it will help you understand more fully with what Unify is if my rambling videos don't.
3:30am and I need to get back to editing the videos. Thank you for your interest - I can't wait to share this with all of you.

There will be a demo but it won't be available for a while - I don't know how long but we will have a wave of tech support I'm sure hit us and we are leaving in a week for the NAMM show. So it probably won't land until early February I'm guessing.murnau wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 11:04 am Looks promising!

Yes, we will be releasing a Pro version of Unify in a year or so that will have many cool features that are pretty mind blowing. One of them being NetVST which I actually used 7 months or so ago on a YouTube Livestream to show Massive X because my Mac Pro Tower can't play Massive X but my laptop could. We used Unify to play the laptop from my Tower and it works great. So it's one of the many things coming to the Pro version (a full blown sampler is another thing I can safely say will be added to Unify Pro that won't be in Unify Standard).Gamma-UT wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 10:28 am Seeing Shane’s involvement in this, I went to the NetVST page and saw this: “ A new commercial product called Unify, scheduled to launch in early January 2020, will be the first commercial product with NetVST technology built-in.”

Y'know, I think I watched the livestream (or a solid chunk of it) and completely forgot about that part.realkuhl wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2020 11:45 am One of them being NetVST which I actually used 7 months or so ago on a YouTube Livestream to show Massive X because my Mac Pro Tower can't play Massive X but my laptop could. Sounds all really interesting.....add an autosampler to the pro version and i´m sold.
(a maybe simpler iOS version would be great as well).
However, this whole project looks very good and i guess it might be my first buy of the year

It’s actually worth it for the included sounds alone, apart from the layering of ext vst’s.

John will be posting fresh new-product intro/overview videos tomorrow so nobody has to watch hours of live-streams to get what Unify is and can do:)

I for one can't wait for Unify to be released. I actually have watched many Saturday rambles by John (which I often find are informative and great fun … his enthusiasm is contagious). I've purchased many of his patch libraries certainly because of his support of Omnisphere. If you buy a library there is usually a supporting video that actually goes deep into the ways to use the patches and often uncovers hidden functional potential.
I was afraid after seeing the most recent discussions during the Saturdays that the product might prove too costly, but from what I am seeing as a suggested price, those fears have been allayed.
For anyone who is familiar with John there is absolutely a massive appreciation of the detail level of his work and his command of the nuances of sound design. Several times I have had questions about some of the libraries and every time I have emailed him, I have had valid and helpful responses.
From what I have seen of Unify, there is a deep level of complexity for it to be used to full advantage. This may not be attractive to some musicians who might rightly admire simplicity. But for me, depth spawns creativity and I repeat, I can't wait.

Hope there's a demo available on release. This looks interesting for those of us who use multiple DAWs.
