How to learn dancing in Vienna (from the three Edelweiss guys)...

Post

Were you people alive in the 90s?

Get orff my lawn
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Brilliant post. Some funny shite on here though like Haddaway and Rednex

Post

I never understood the fun in Rednex. It should be some kind of Texas cowboy persiflage but I couldn't laugh about it. For me it was as annoying as the "happy nation" sound of Ace of Base.

Rednex made up a big story that they were from a lonesome United States village and then truth came out that is was a small record shop in big Stockholm. :?

Tricky-Loops wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2020 2:10 am Maybe someone could explain me the meaning of the sample of the DJ Johnny Dynell song from 1983 "Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty, you're listening to the boy of the big bad city, this is jam hot" :?:

A "tank fly boss", is it meant ironically because of the fast tanks or army slang :?:

And "jam nitty gritty" :?:
Sadly there is no deep meaning to the 'Jam Hot' song lyrics from 1983.
Tank, Fly Boss, Walk, Jam and Nitty Gritty are literally the names of some downtown New York rappers and grafitti artists (taggers) whom Johnny Dynell knew circa 1980.
It is a shout out to them from Johnny Dynell who calls himself 'the boy from the big bad city'.
I'm not sure whether the phrase "this is Jam Hot" refers to just the name of the 1983 song or whether Johnny Dynell is actually calling himself 'Jam Hot' (in keeping with the rest of the nicknames). Either meaning is possible until Dynell clarifies it.
My song [“Jam Hot”] was all about the rappers and graffiti artists that I had seen.
All about the different characters I was meeting in the after-hours clubs...

Very interesting, thanks! :tu:

I never thought about a simple shout out, I always suspected a deeper meaning!

I was going to name some tunes from Underworld, Leftfield and other similar acts, but as the OP posted Eurodance tunes...

Culture Beat's Mr. Vain and Inside Out are two trax that are among the very best this particular genre has to offer imho.

I'm also a big fan of Masterboy (finally saw them live in 2018, almost 25 years after I first heard of them). Too many awesome tunes from them to mention... 8)
