What are your "must-have" Plugin Alliance plugins now that they are $29 ?

I picked up MetricAB this morning.
Question is, for round 3 in a couple of days, do I go for Blackbox or Elysia.
I'm leaning towards Elysia.
I signed up for PA's newsletter a couple of times. I've got nothing. I've bought a few of their plugins and never had a voucher.

MetricAB... it crashes my DAW and needs OpenGL enabled to not block the rest of the DAW. I prefer Reference 2... almost the same features, but easier to use (I like the new match curve a lot, makes things much easier).
Yes, VSM-3 can be scaled up to 150%. If I had to choose between Blackbox and VSM-3, it would definitely be VSM-3.
Maag EQ4 is always difficult for me... the Air Band is cool but I never found the EQ very interesting.

Out of curiosity, what do you prefer for mixing/mastering plugins that in your opinion have real value... While I much prefer pricing strategies like Valhalla and U-he, when I can pick up PA plugins for $30 or less I find they do a job that is well worth that money... but I'm no professional, so would love to hear constructive criticism and about better alternatives...kvotchin wrote: Fri Nov 27, 2020 5:57 pm Still none, lol.
Maybe $2.90, and I'd consider one or two. Maybe.

I’ve had Thorn on my radar for a while now. Crazy deal. Thanks for posting.

Yeah.... Selling really good plug ins for cheap is terrible...Teksonik wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 7:49 pm Words can not convey how much I hate Plugin Alliance's marketing tactics. They repulse me.

I think the class A is a new improved version, so you may just have the original one.gondii wrote: Thu Nov 26, 2020 5:20 pmTrue. It wasn't excluded during a $29 sale in February, so that's when I got it. Seems I lucked outwaltercruz wrote: Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:07 pmShadow HiIlls Class A is not in current promo, but your list is very good!![]()
*I think you can get close to this compressor by running two compressors in series, some harder comp followed by an la2a type. Just a bit of each flavour.

I haven't tried all their many plug ins, but I think the below can all be good for electronic music.
BX digital great bus/surgical eq tool
Lindell 80 mojo for days makes anything sound better
HG 2 great saturation
BX Oberhausen simple but great synth
SPL iron or Elysia alpha really great bus compression
Consoles all very decent can help bring cohesion *Waves Omni channel is also on sale currently and that is a great channel strip tool also with a very decent saturation

Yeah putting silly high list prices on average sounding plugins then putting them on sale for what they're actually worth in order to sucker people into buying them is terrible.
Not to mentions their constant "All Plugins for $29" that does not in fact include ALL plugins.

Maag EQ2+4
Masterdesk
Shadow Hills Class A
SSL J
Townhouse
VSM-3
There aren't really any other ones that I want from PA, but these ones are great.

Not much different to Waves marketing strategy really. Except Waves have sale every week.Teksonik wrote: Sat Nov 28, 2020 3:59 pm Yeah putting silly high list prices on average sounding plugins then putting them on sale for what they're actually worth in order to sucker people into buying them is terrible.![]()
"Average plugins" I don't know who can judge that. There are some rave reviews for Blackbox, Elysia from a lot of people online.
On the other hand, Luftikus EQ (which is free) is very close to the PA model of the same plugin priced at $200. So, yes, some of theirs are average, but some are really good.

I hold Waves in equal contempt.
Here's an example of where my attitude from them comes....PA once had a sale on their bx_rooms reverb that listed for $199 and the sale price was $9.
I thought wow a $199 reverb for $9 how could I go wrong ? So I bought it without even demoing since I thought it's got to be worth $9. I was wrong. It's one of the worst sounding reverbs I've ever owned or tried. I'd use the freeware OrilRiver reverb long before I'd use bx_rooms. So Yea I was one of those suckers who fell for silly high list prices and low sales prices.
My fault, I should have demoed the plugin but for $9 I rolled the dice.
I've tried several of their other effects plugins and came to the same conclusion that they were average sounding...at best.
Now what wasn't quoted from my original post was that I recommended DS Thorn and Oberhausen as being worth the $29 sale price. In fact I feel sorry for Dmitry that he is allowing PA to sell Thorn for such a low price. It's one plugin that is well worth more.
Anyway it's just my opinion that I find PA's marketing tactics repulsive. Others will disagree. Such is the nature of opinions.
So I won't discuss it any further. If you like PA's tactics by all means do business with them.
