So, perhaps someone has already written about this, then I will repeat) As far as I can see, working with patches is really confusing, but possible. So, select the preset you like in the browser or Rclick (right mouse button) => New (generates init), edit/create it, then double Lclick on it, fill in your data (email address always, for claims!

), Rclick on it => Export (to a convenient place that Kairatune will helpfully remember), profit! To call this preset, Menu => File => Import presets (in the format .ktpreset). Fans of working only from init can immediately make Menu => Remove all presets, then in the browser stamp Rclick => New and save them one by one, as described above. You can also save all the presets in one bank, Menu => File => Export presets, and load your bank, Menu => File => Load presets (in the format .ktbank).

I'm a big fan of working with multiple simple init files. With this synth always remeber to click "save as default" after every important change. This will bring your presets back when you start a new instance of this plugin. Also copy, paste and rename your presets every time you want to create a new preset.
BTW Kairatune sounds better than knifonium

Hey all,

I installed Notelogic and loaded it up in Ableton to see if I could play chords with Kairatune, but no go yet. I tried all the routing and assignment options I could think of, any suggestions are appreciated.

Is that the plugin that OSCers have recommended before to more easily allow one to play chords with a monophonic synth?

And thank you everyone for the percussion tips and presets. Many of the hi hat presets are nice, yet I lowered the tone of some so they live below 10k, I want everyone to hear them...

Yes, that worked, thank you! Realizing that each voice can play a different patch, or completely different synth or instrument, really opens up some possibilities...

That's really good. I've been making instrument racks with midi pitch shifters, which are fine but it takes a bit of extra effort to to adjust from major to minor, although you can automate it to do that in various ways. I imagine you can just play chords on your keyboard with that device.

Yes, and as always Bitwig is ahead of the curve, with it's Instrument Selector device built in to do all the great polyphonic stuff with multiple instances of the synth... \o/ Bitwig! Claes is my hero!

I’m always so envious of bitwig users. There are so many things I find intriguing about that DAW, but I am too entrenched in Logic currently. Whenever (and if ever) I upgrade to a new and more powerful machine, I am definitely jumping on the bitwig ship.

Please understand it's not a panacea. There are quite a few weak points compared to other DAWs. For me, the strengths outweigh the deficiencies, though but the same may not be true for everyone. Happy to elaborate, if it would help! Cheers!

How do you use it properly? I tried Free robin, free voice modes, but all of them doesn't work propely without chord strumming and I'm still having issues with sleeping instruments. So I ended up with different solution, but it is a bit more complicated. I created fake midi device with loopMIDI (I'm on Windows) and then I use HW instrument device in MPE mode. MPE mode assings each voice to separate channel. From HW instrument I send midi to loopMIDI IN, and then on separate track I'm reciving midi only from loopMIDI IN. This gives my true polyphony and I can use Instrument layer instead of selector. But maybe there is a better way of doing this in the instrument selector?

They all seem to work more-or-less properly for me, but maybe just try round robin and understand you have X number of voices to work with when sequencing the midi? It works great for me. I did notice some odd behavior with the Free-* modes, like i had to be very slow at pressing the notes or they couldn't keep up.
