Users of ARC or Sonarworks Reference, did it work?

Systemwide and AAX Reference 4 significantly different on different "Safety Buffer" sizes. Tried on both my Windows PCs in the studio and at home multiple times only to find that it was on the wrong setting and therefore a wrong reference for me, that I just gave up using it. I'm not sure if there's some windows settings on my end that I have yet to check, and i've yet to try it on a MacOS device

I'm sorry I haven't been able to get to it yet, but I wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about it and I will do it and post about it here. My apologies for the delay.

I've been using ARC3 with a Superlux measurement mic, I considered the MEMS mic for sub £50 on Amazon.
After listening to online mixes using the MEMS mic, I thought they sounded better without. With the IKM mic they seemed to be less clarity and separation, they sounded bass and low-mid heavy. I might stick with the Superlux ECM999.

Someone made a calibration file for the IKM MEMS microphone.

Question for users of either SW or ARC.
I own ARC2 (waiting for the M1 update to order ARC3) and I recently switched from PC/Cubase Pro to Mac/Logic Pro.
In Cubase, I used the Control Room functionality and placed the ARC2 plugin in an effects slot on the output channel for my main studio monitors. This way ARC was only applied to the monitoring signal and not the actual stereo output.
What's the analogous solution in Logic?

I'm hoping I don't need to run something outside of Logic to solve this problem - for all the reasons that you might imagine. Is there a way to do this with Logic's native routing?

Great thread guys, lot's of good info, cheers
I didn't even realise this, but i got ARC3 cross grade i the T-racks group buy so that's really cool!
After a 'forced break' (health issues) and moving houses my studio isn't ready yet.
Needs tidying up and needs at least more basic wall & ceiling treatment. Does have 2 bass traps.
I still have a Behringer ECM8000, which i intended to use with REW and the Sonarworks mic.
No idea if one or the other is a better fit for ARC3 ?
So, i've used Sonarworks/SoundID and i've also had many headaches with Systemwide.
I've recently bought Sonnox Listenhub which is great, but things aren't fluid here yet.
But the possibilities are awesome. Apart from the routing it has some neat features.
(Listenhub replaced Soundsource for some people. I never used Soundsource)
With Listenhub you can also use the ARC3 AU plugin on 'everything' and there's 2 paths with 3 plugin slots so 'Main out' is to monitors and can for example have SoundID plugin or ARC3 as a systemwide and 'ALT out' can permanently have for example Realphones inserted for the HP's and all of this without putting these plugins on the Mixbus with it's con's.
I don't really like messing with the main audio driver which is otherwise super stable (Roland Octa Capture) and i first experienced this with Sonarworks Ref 4 systemwide; Catalina got a security update and that broke something in Reference, causing clicks & pops and it drove me mad..
Listenhub now sometimes crashes after opening and Sonnox's FAQ was right;
that's due to the AU's being used. Need to report to Sonnox (it's SoundID and or Realphones here).

You'd need to create a template with busses set up for it.lightsfadelow wrote: Sat Jun 04, 2022 5:06 pm In Cubase, I used the Control Room functionality and placed the ARC2 plugin in an effects slot on the output channel for my main studio monitors. I'm now using Listenhub to avoid all this (but, that creates other possible issues). Here's info i had found before.
Scroll down to the section covering Logic:
https://www.sonarworks.com/blog/learn/h ... e=email-sw
Slightly different short version:
"Create an aux channel and name it "Mix Bus". Set it to NO OUTPUT. Create 2 more aux's and set their input to the newly created mix bus. Label them "Bounce" and "Monitor". Set Monitor to outputs 1&2. Set the bounce bus (in my case with an 8x8 audio interface) to outputs 7&8. Put your plugins on the monitor bus, and use outs 8&9 for bouncing. Route all your channel strips in the arrangement to output on the mix bus."

I started with ARC1, then upgraded to v2-3.
It definitely was a major improvement, but it's still limited by basic acoustics and physics. If you already have a properly treated room it can add the final 10-15%, but can't work miracles.
After getting VSX I haven't even plugged my monitors in for a year. I can mix consistently anytime/anywhere and find my mixes translate far better that with ARC. Whether it's earbuds or a small bluetooth/phone speaker, there's rarely any surprises. What I heard while mixing is what it sounds like (within reason given the major differences between a phone speaker and professional studio/)

This is what we use at the studio. I still find this one sounds the best of all the solutions I've tried.
https://mathaudio.com/room-eq.htm
The only one that was even better was the Trinnov hardware setup.
.. and as others have already pointed out, these kinds of correction solutions (hardware/software) mainly work in already well treated spaces. It will NOT transform your non-treated bedroom studio from unusable to usable.

Just a quick note that even though it supports mics that have measurement files, for best results you would want to use the ARC 3 MEMS microphone with ARC 3.
