Sonible frei:raum
Doesn't frei:raum EQ the transients only? You'd have to run that followed by an EQ wouldn't you? I tried those out back in the day but just didn't get with it as immediately as this.

Specifically entropy EQ. Granted splitEQ is not exactly the same but the underlying approach is similar. splitEQ has more functionality and is better integrated and easier to use.

From what I recall (note: I think they've since made updates so I don't know if this changed) everything in the frei:raum suite was using linear phase filters so pre-ringing was real concern. Which I thought at the time was odd for something [Entropy] dealing with transients.

I find for creative purposes, I'm getting some similar results chaining Bitwig Transient Control and something like ToneboostersEQ, CraveEQ or SurferEQ. (Some really cool effects with SurferEQ, in fact...)

Eventide dev here: the intro price ($99) lasts until January 3rd. (I'm not sure if resellers are obligated to follow that date, but you can definitely get it on our site)

- Swapped the default transient / tonal band handle tab direction, and added a user setting to configure their direction
- Added mousewheel Q control to EQ plot
- Fixed a bug where the UI would appear as blank in certain hosts on macOS Mojave
- Updated the User Guide to reflect new changes, and fix some typos
- Various other small bug fixes and improvements

Would a similar tonal/transient split compressor make sense as a mastering duo with SplitEQ?

as i wouldn't use a transient-separating eq in mastering unless i really, really, really had to, it makes just as much sense. as in not much.

Still, even for mix bus, does this kind of split comp exist?
