So you don’t watch movies or listen to music? Apple Music, Spotify, Netflix, etc;…

That was not directed at me, but I'll reply nevertheless.

I prefer to buy music as DRM-free files (such as on iTunes and Beatport) and keep local backups. That way, once I own [technically, a license to the content of] the file and media it's stored on, no-one can ever take it from me. Provided that I have maintained the devices needed, I can listen to anything I've bought, anywhere, anytime...

Bluntly speaking, in large scale it looks like an attempt to raise a generation of obedient, hard-working bill-payers who don't question too much and don't know too much about technical sides of things.
Whether that is good or bad for society, in the long run, I'm not sure. But I know that I'd rather not make myself reliant on any digital vendor's continued benevolence.

TL;DR: Master Blaster runs Bartertown

Plugin Alliance is probably the model for music software subscriptions. Unlike others they offer generous discounts to their subs for existing customers. They also provide monthly and annual vouchers and most importantly they still have great sales. This allows you to eventually buy the plugins that you like at a fair price, so if you ever want to cancel the sub you're not stuck with a bunch of projects that you can only open if you pay some company.

The latter is the Slate Digital model, they recently made a half-hearted attempt at allowing you to keep one plugin each year but it's based on their insane over-valuing of their plugins. TBH if Slate ever went back to having decent sales, I'd probably re-sub but I'll never subscribe to them again if I can only buy their plugs at full price. I can't believe that Slate still thinks that not having sales makes their subscription seem more valuable when it's actually the opposite. Plugin Alliance has obviously figured this out.

I had an early Noizz subscription that I terminated because I was not getting my money’s worth anymore. I have the free Loopcloud and pretty much never use it.
Really? I've downloaded all the sample packs from Noiiz a few years ago IIRC. Best deal ever IMO.
Yeah, that was it wasn't it. I downloaded everything of interest and more then the content stopped getting released at any rate to keep me subscribed.
