There are still three and a half weeks to replace the track. So, go for it if you feel like. The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Sat Feb 05, 2022 4:50 pm [...] Now I am sorry I already submitted my track.

Before the deadline, you can change your track as many times as you want, you can at least abandon it and make a new one, all this is not prohibited! The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Sat Feb 05, 2022 4:50 pm Hahaaa! this is great. Just listened to the entire piece and I was surprised that it ended that quickly. The drum sounds organic and electronic at the same time. It's got character. It's not the merit of the guys who programmed the synth but it's the right ear and the mind that are on the lookout for beautiful hotspots. Now I am sorry I already submitted my track.

This is a brillant one instance one key minimal piece. I promise you if you’d have the courage to let it be a submission, you would at least get my 5 points.schiing wrote: Sat Feb 05, 2022 6:01 am Not quite sure what I'm doing - it's certainly *NOT* a submission - but I want to make a case for Synister: This is just me pressing the same key to the internal pulse of a single sound. There's no automation or post-editing. And the result actually kind of speaks to me - the synth has a personality. There's something almost organic, slightly unpredictable that keeps my interest as a listener, even on such basic terms. That makes it rather rare, I think.
Feel free to disagree. But you have to listen to the whole track first!![]()

It shows how to take the synth as a challenge and not just as a tool for doing the same all over again. If you found an inspiring spot, just relish it… It might be sufficient and enjoyable…

It's incredibly kind of you to say so, Tj! I am quite pleased with it, myself – so there's always that possibility. If nothing else, it could be an interesting talking point!
On the other hand, I'd hate to break my top 5 streak if I'm completely honest.

It looks like I'm going to miss this month if I don't solve the problem. In Cakewalk, every time I start recording to a new track, Synister overwrites midi notes from all previous tracks onto it!
This doesn't happen with any other, so it's definitely about the synthesizer.

Do consider using Waveform Free, it's lightweight and quite easy to use. You don't even need to do a full vst scan to get started. Just add Synister and off you go !IV! wrote: Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:49 am It looks like I'm going to miss this month if I don't solve the problem...

But to be honest, I like the idea of deliberately skipping one month of OSC. Well, that is... I miss a lot of them, but they hide unfinished tracks and a lot of frustration, so it will be something like a break from all this)

Hi all, I can't believe I didn't know about this compo until now. For sure I will submit something with this apparently "sinister" synth. I do love a good challenge. This would be my first submission on this forum ever.
Have been listening to the entries so far and it doesn't really seem *that* bad, it's kinda workable, great job so far guys!

Same for LFO speed, that's also sample rate dependent. Including synced rates. Syncs only at 44.1K.RichardSemper wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 3:27 pm I noticed that the tuning is reliant upon the soundcard samplerate. Seems at 44100 Hz samplerate the main freq must be set to 440Hz, while anyone using 48000 Hz samplerate needs to set main freq to 404.8556 Hz. Naturally this will affect patches created with it. hmmm
Filter frequency too.
And envelope times.

My first preview on my first OSC, hope you enjoy! I admit to have used some distortion (mainly to make the kick sound like a kick with bx_subfilter), and some coloring EQ on the master. Other than that, it's 11 instances of synister.
PS: This is NOT a submission yet, I'm just trying to make the draft, then after I'll make sure it follows all the rules for the official submission.

I made my track in Cakewalk also, and this didn't happen for me. Look for a function called "input echo" (right side of record track), and make sure it's ON or OFF, never AUTO THRU, and you should be fineIV! wrote: Sun Feb 06, 2022 10:49 am It looks like I'm going to miss this month if I don't solve the problem. Hi guys, here's my submission. edit: it now has a name "DLA". It was fun playing with the "sinister" synister synth.
I used 12 instances of it (was pretty CPU hungry) in Logic, Space Designer for reverb, Klanghelm's DC1A and MJUC jr. for compression, IGVI for a little saturation, and Auburn Sounds' Panagement for panning.
Enjoy!
