Air gapped?
Not connected to the internet, literally an air gap between the system and everything else, for security.
Ah right, OK.

Thanks.

I can't keep up with all this new lingo, I would have just said "offline" :hihi:
I would have thought that the CEO of cutting edge technologies would be hip to the lingo. All the kids with their XP systems have them air gapped these days.

There are use cases for older 32 bit operating systems.

One use case is you have invested in perfectly functional and expensive hardware that was abandoned as the rest of the world moved on.

I have two Oasys PCI cards. One running on Windows 98SE and the other running in a Mac G4 in OS 9 . I did a lot of sound design work for the Oasys and it is still important to my workflow. I have two RME Digi 5632 cards that were very expensive. RME abandoned driver support for those cards. I run one of them on a Windows XP box in my second studio with adat expanders to capture live jams. They can run at 32 samples and I can track a band live off the floor and then dump the audio into my modern rig. That setup has cost me some time to maintain but I can live with it. I've gotten years of use out of them.

I don't expect commercial support from any developers but if someone has a hardware or software tip to share that will keep these older machines running I'll gladly listen. For the record, my main DAW is Cubase 11 running on a Ryzen 5950x with dual RME cards on Windows 10. It is entirely possible to have one foot in the past and another one firmly in the present.

There are very resourceful people who manage to keep these old systems up and running. More power to them.

I still use my old PC with Windows XP and Logic 5.5.1. Indeed I am finishing a double LP there, using only my own FX and Instruments that I did create back in the day! If it works do not change it!
Offtopic: here´s a track I did there in 2007 and that I re-played 2 days ago... XP still works fine! Session opened without any trouble. Unopened since 2007!!!!! It´s in the sound test section of the video.

Technically air gapped means you don't even connect to another device in your house. Not even ye olden printer

P.s. it took about ten seconds to Google air gapped & find a tech site explaining it in detail that took about 30 seconds to read

OK, smartarse, list the changes or STFU. Because as someone who actuqlly uses the f**king thing, I think I have a slightly better handle on it than you do.
Right. Because the guy that already claimed it looks the same from its earlier versions is such a good judge of differences

No difference? LMAO

I can't see any different features between the two, can you? If you're perception is so superficial as to believe that because it looks different it is different, you're the perfect customer.

Thanks! You are proof positive that any XP subforum here would be full of inane conversations. Which was the main point of that post of mine that you replied to about Vintage Media Player.
