Counterpoint: we can stop doing that the second companies stop claiming their plugins are perfect emulations of said gear and stop making them look like the hardware.

The purpose of an emulation is to have a plugin version of the original hardware. That's why you're buying it, and you ought to expect to get what you paid for.
If you don't care about it being an emulation, then you're probably not buying it in the first place.
