It's not like I never did it because I collected a lot of digital junk. Fortunately for prices like $1, $5 or tenner. Plugins that cost over $100 in the promo are not tempting at all to me.

Do yourselves a favour and ditch balsamic vinegars at once. Sherry vinegar all the way.

So far I've gone for IK Total Studio Max. I really wanted the tape emulators and this give me the Fame and Sunset reverbs, Comprexxor, and MODO Bass 2. I think it was $199 just recently so not really the best deal but now I'm pretty much set. I had a bunch of expensive reverbs on my wishlist but decided the IK thing made better sense and will be more than good enough for what I am capable of.

You are right, I just watched a video on YT with title New Frost plugin IT IS FREE in big letters. Why this misleading way to sell a plugin? Well, don't care about the plugin, but you have to give AA 140 first to get the plugin. AA tries to free you from your money - the new definition of free!

Some incredible "no brainer" deals to be had, for certain. There always are. Maybe I've reached my saturation, but finding ways around the GAS this November. Perhaps the size of my wallet compared to previous years.
Here are the questions I'm asking myself that seem to be keeping the spontaneous buying in check.
Here are the questions I'm asking myself that seem to be keeping the spontaneous buying in check.
- Is it already on my list? If not, why was it not? Off my radar or am I being enticed by price alone?
Takeaway: Go into BF sales with a list and set a high bar for anything not on my list. - Is a demo available? If it is, have I demoed it?
Takeaway: If I don't have the time or inclination to demo now, then demo later and buy in some future sale. - Do I already have something that covers this? If I do, am I using it? If I'm not, is it maybe because it's not my thing?
Takeaway: Use what I've got until I bump up against the limitations, and then consider replacing. - Is this unique in the marketplace? If it's not, what else is out there? Is there something better? Do I need best in class?
Takeaway: Do my diligence to find what alternatives there are and compare them. - Is this the best price over the past 12-24 months? Can I wait for a better price?
Takeaway: BF prices are not always the lowest. Do my diligence to find historical discounts and be patient. - Does it offer all the plugin "conveniences" I would like -- M1 native, resizable interface, NKS template, etc? If not, has the developer publicly made statements about any such plans?
Takeaway: Some things are negotiable (NKS support), but don't lower my standards just because it's on sale. - Is the developer active? With this particular plugin? For a Mac user, the easiest gauge of this is M1 support. If it's not yet M1 native, there better be some public statements and signs that the catalog is being migrated.
Takeaway: Buy from developers who are passionate about their work, update periodically, and respond to user feedback to improve their products. I'll be happier with their products. - What is the dev's resale policy? Is it publicly stated?
Takeaway: If I can't resell it, I had better have a clear use case today and the price needs to be on the floor.

I just realized I have 5 vinegars too but I actually use them all? I feel like I definitely shouldn't need 5 but I'm also not going to want to replace one with another while cooking.

I don't understand IK's pricing/business model. It would appear the Total Studio Max deal is currently $199, but the specs state Modo Bass 1.5 and Modo Drum 1. So am I right to assume this bundle is a way to get people in to using old versions of plugins, which have a paid upgrade path?ROTMetro wrote: Fri Nov 11, 2022 6:14 pm So far I've gone for IK Total Studio Max. Or worse, with certain deals IK don't allow an upgrade... so I don't understand what one gets for the price with this current deal.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.
