An ideal synthesizer would be able to synthezise any sound. So it it just the degree of shortcomings, that they don't. Truly I expect from Kult in the future sounds that I can use not just as effects but as a basis of the composition. If not I won't probably use it alot.

why bread and butter sounds? an open question, enough synths that can do that.Artie Fichelle wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:14 pm 2nd thought: Good concept, but missing the bread and butter sounds. Not made or not possible, that's the question.
me thinks it is possible, but bread and butter, well i like that in morning, but not on my synths...
so it is not something that i miss, and if should it, i have other options. but is my personal view and worflow and well... style...
i must disagree, i don't how you get to this assumption.Artie Fichelle wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:14 pm So I feel it is a beta, as most 1.0 releases are. The developer has now the opportunity to leave it like that or to make an isntrumkent out of it. I have seen many good concepts dying, Neuron, Thorn et al.
i like that KULT, although, it hasn't a what you can call a full character, but it has in each sound a kind of essence, that is typical for KULT (or i strive to make it that way), that you can achieve sounds in KULT, because of how it is built (oscillators - filters etc), that sound quite different than stuff you make with other synths.
i must agree.... and Entonal Studio works very well with KULT. and if you have, for instance Live 11 Suite, the free Microtuner works also.Artie Fichelle wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:14 pm A general issue: With microtuning any instrument has millions of more sounds. I used Kult with the Entonal Studio, which a fellow from KVR hinted me and guess what, much better and unique sound are possible. It is all about frequencies and tunings, as the universe seems to be made out of frequencies.
an extra investment, but if you are into xenharmonics, it is a great tool. and every MPE synth, even without MTS-ESP, can work with it. so you can also different scales per synth... or change them...

fully agree!aMUSEd wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:24 pm It's not a 'bread and butter' synth - thankfully - plenty of those elsewhere
Please continue to create synths that explore new sonic territory
see my post above. not that your perspective isn't valid. it seems to embedded in the way you work or style? but that does not mean, that a synth can be more focused, or have special character or, "function" etc. i feel that market, personal opinion, is flooded with bread and butter synths, and i will certainly own several of them, but use them... wel....Artie Fichelle wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 8:29 pm An ideal synthesizer would be able to synthezise any sound. KULT i can use as basis of composition. certainly my way of working and style etc. has influence on that.....

If every synthesizer was able to synthesize any sound, we would only need one synth ever.
My ideal synthesizer:
- is interesting
- can be expressive
- is fun to play and to create new sounds with
- doesn't try to cram in every single feature, which just makes it awkward
Kult qualifies.

to be honest the most complex sound is white noise. As said, i have bought cult, but we will see if it goes whre no bold man or wombman has gone before.

Not sure why a synth should have to produce bread & butter sounds? Haven't we got enough of those?
BTW, have the Aliasing Police been in yet? I see the Microtuning Police have...

Bloody hell! I'm gonna have to flippin' buy this! I was really hoping that I would be able to hold off from buying anything else for quite a while, seeing as I already have everything I could possible ever need, and only make exceptions for something completely new and/or groundbreaking. And now this comes along. Which I suppose qualifies...Or does it, if I've already got Newfangled Generate? There's more than a slight resemblance in this I think, although a fair bit more variety in form and function than that other excellent synth. This has enough that it does differently though to make me want to spend more money that I don't have...

Kult reminds me of the now seemingly defunct Soundemote oscilliscope synths, just more constrained and refined.

The ARP seems to be losing sync/running slow.
(Ableton Live 11 using the VSt3 and AU version)
Tried a quarter note rate triggered by one note lasting four bars and just jumping one octave
By the end of the four bars it has drifted well off the tempo.
Seems to be running slower than the host clock.
Edit: Same thing in Logic. Arp is out of sync.
