PA is the perfect developer for lonely people: so much In-Box-Traffic :tu:
And for the psychic fragile and depressed ones there's this super positive Fazebook group! :tu:

@martinjuenke we get you don’t like PA. Some of us do. I get maybe 1 email a day; no big deal.

PA were (are?) super spammy with me, I unsubbed multiple times but it didn't stop them, very Wusik.

In the end I took it up with support who were a little shitty with me but finally stopped the emails. Phew. Thanks PA support xx

Quality wise, the few things I have from them are great.

If I had to give a newbie some recommendation regarding plugins, only one thing comes to my mind,
never buy PA plugins, never subscribe to PA newsletter, there's always without any exception a better alternative to a pa plugin, otherwise I would recommend demoing to find out whether you like a plugin or not, but stay away from pa, you might regret it, pa knows how to wrap newbies round their little finger.

If I had to give a newbie some recommendations, I’d say ignore anything you say.

Same I’d disagree with that.

PA has constant sales, bundle offers including free stuff.

For a newbie there’s zero reason to need them all. There’s zero reason to need access to them all immediately.

I looked back at my own purchases and I’ve been buying only on sale over 6 years. Several were free and the rest were all deep discounts. I’ve spent very little on these.

I have no problems with their functionality so no reason to advise anyone to stay away.

My only advice is don’t feel pressured to own them all. It’s counterproductive and unnecessary.

I've never seen a website that is so concerned with judging other people as this place and the Marvin The Paranoid Android level depressed Gearslz.

PA has good tools that lots of people use. They are super affordable. If you don't like emails you have the power to unsubscribe( you don't have to be a victim, you can take control of your life and click unsubscribe).

Buy a plugin to use it, not to resell in the future. Or better yet, see if a tool you already have does what you are looking to accomplish.

That said if you are super negative, can't figure out how to unsubscribe from emails, want to invest in NFTs but think they are too mainstream and want a use an even more obscure, isosteric music make tool format as the place you store value PA VSTs might not be the tool for you.

You might just be choosing them gems to post in.

Anything with constant sales and resales (PA, Waves, IK) and any copy protection threads all draw the same types of posts.

It’s not isolated to here.

The rest of the place is not bad. Good people and advice when you need it.

It's probably just me. Prison made me thin skinned to the bullshit and disrespect that passes on here. Gotta say as a newbie both were super unwelcoming and super hostile. I ended up canceling my Gearspace account last week, why contribute to a community that feels hostile to you? But when you have people seriously whining about receiving emails (when they can just click unsubscribe) as a negative value of a musical tool your site isn't providing good advice.

In fact, there are only four or five really stupid people in this forum. Try this: click on their names, and then click on "Add to foe list". The content of all their posts will be hidden for you. It's a quality of life feature like no other.

“Nowhere is worse than KVR” is now a meme. You have to wonder about folks who make such posts when you can simply ignore the wankers, ignore the entire site, or post something less shitty yourself.

Yes, but everybody has a different 4 or 5. Add them all up, and it equals everyone on KVR.

Their older catalog like Waves and Universal Audio have been superseded by their competitors. They could thin the herd but that would hurt their subscription model. I always look at the competition and I always download the demo. Some of their plugins are not stable on the older Mac I have here but are rock solid on my Ryzen 5950x.

The demos are unrestricted to 14 days so there is no need for buyer's remorse. PA isn't perfect but I do like their licensing system. I can disable a computer from my master account, temporarily work on someone's machine and then disable that computer and get my authorizations back. It is very efficient that way. They need a better universal installer to select what you own and then update what may need to be updated. Speaking of updates, they are very slow to appear. That is why the demo is so important.

There are some nice plugins in their library and if you don't mind the gamesmanship with the ridiculous pricing schemes that change from day to day you can get a good deal. I usually don't pay more than $25 for a plugin and earlier on I was getting some with vouchers for damn near free. People with more modern sensibilities may not like the skeaumorphic GUIs of the in house coded plugins but I am an older guy so that works for me in general.

I can understand why some people hate their marketing strategy. I play along and convince myself that it works to my advantage. A shortlist of my most used 20 plugins would include 4 or 5 PA plugins. I have been using BX (Dirk owned) coded plugins since the early days of DSP audio with Creamware audio cards and with the BX coded plugins on the UAD-1 and UAD-2 platforms. They've been around for awhile if that is worth anything in 2023.

Vortifex wrote: Sat Feb 25, 2023 3:14 pm Disagree with that. PA have some excellent plugins that either have no equal or are among the best in the price bracket: Black Box, Townhouse, Oberhausen, Thorn, Knifonium, MetricAB, Triad, some of the Unfiltered stuff. They do have an awful lot of plugins that are just 'okay' without being anything special, but I wouldn't tell someone not to buy anything from PA as they'll miss out on some good stuff.
