Butch Vig Vocals

Not only on vocals, but also on bass and lead...

I use Waves much less than I used to, but probably SSL-E emulation or Scheps Omni channel.

It's interesting and a bit weird. What sort of things do you use it for?

I find the presets are not great starting points for anything, and starting from scratch is much better.
i quasi never use presets in FX boxes. i often even would not check them out.
my usecase is NOT production work !

i create realtime-play patches in my Host of choice, which is GigPerformer.
There, am i able to create morph controls.
And, if i want, can i put any FX on a Send-return/mix-back patch. Also with full morphing control.
so, i can for example create many parallel audio pathes from one instrument, or combine many instruments, and can put Pan devices on all or just some of the"audio pathes", and can fade the panning of all Pan-devices in, at same time, just by tweaking one knob on my HW controller. ( i´m fresh into such complex panning patches)

There is then other FX involved, for example to turn Piano/EP into something more ambienty. Panning comes then behind. you can turn so ordinary instrument playing into something wooshing, and from there turn it into something vibrating and breathing, by using some of these complex Pan devices. Morph controls are key here for this type of patches.
DAWs do not have that.
....fade In and out, like you´d fade a vibrato in and out with the modwheel.
similar approach.

no, nothing weird at all ! ;)
its fantastic ! :hihi:

sorry for OT !

just watched BarryJohns YT Video vs. Waves - Great Speak Barry !
sorry for selfish promotion, but that is the perfect usecase for our open source/open hardware 3D Audio controller. We call it motion sampler, where you can record motions in 3D space and trigger them like a launchpad or something. Up to 4 motions can be safed per Input. So your style of working combined with our 3D system would blow up every corner of the dancefloor imo. I also tend to improvise with FX chains, and am using a lot of Turnado again lately (despite not having GUI rezise yet), aiming for a great psytrance set to do in 3D. :D

ah yea and ontopic: H-Delay

I am rather impressed with some of their fresh plugins. In fact, I think they should retire many of their old ones, give them away for free and unsupported, like some other companies do.

My favourite plugin is Waves Harmony. While there may be better harmonisers, it's just cool and smart. I also enjoy VocalBender, and have always wanted to try VocalRider but never got around to do it. Hope they shape up!

I wonder what happens if I press this button...

This may seem strange, but I love Dorrough meters.

I own a lot of Waves plugins but the one I can't find an equivalent for is MV2. The upwards compression on a vocal is perfect for getting that last 10% from a track.

ADPTR Sculpt is nice for it.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I had high hopes for Cosmos, but it's a complete dud. I'm having the same problem as many others have noted - after spending hours scanning 100K+ samples, the library won't open now and I just get the spinning the icon, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I do like CR8, but its utility is limited without Cosmos.

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

I like and still use SSL Ev2. Handily beat out the Plugin Alliance E Console. I use Vlad G's T Analog Channel for channel variations which I think sounds better than TMT. Surprised no one mentioned EV2, it's awesome.
