I like the new browser. I found it better than the older one.
I like this version (v5). It's really good πŸ‘ I'm thinking of upgrading to the full version now. It seems I always take the longest and most expensive way :hihi:

Anyway, on Windows there is something very annoying! Bitwig doesn't release the audio when I quit it! So, for example, I can't hear a sound from my audio interface when watching YouTube. I need to run another DAW, like Reaper, then close it to be able to release the audio driver! I wrote to their support waiting for answer. I know it's related to Windows because on Mac I can even listen to YouTube while Bitwig is running! Anyone has such problem with Bitwig and Windows?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

The Project level modulators are more useful than I expected when I first heard about this new feature.

What I'm finding useful is a simple macro knob, controlling various parameters across multiple tracks. Then I can automate just the macro instead of having to automate parameters on a bunch of tracks. Also, the new MSEG's are excellent at the project level.

Turns out to be a powerful and effective new capability.

I don't know dor what I use the Project level modulators yet. I need to check some videos about it.
Unfortunately, I don't have all the modulators in the producer edition. I have the most useful for me though like lfo and adsr envelopes.

I really like how they added 'custom' osc and envelope to polymer! That made it a very versatile synth. πŸ‘Œ I will decide if I buy the upgrade or not before the sale ends. I'm not so sure yet.

Project modulators are useful for simple things too... for example, make a macro knob that lowers the level of 2 tracks while raising the level of another.

Yeah, it's great that the Segments MSEG can be the Polymer Amp Env.

Thanks. I begin to think about volume and panning as macros that useful in mixing as a start.

Also, besides modulators at the project level, you can also now have them for tracks and groups as well.

Yes, that is very handy in mixing stage. I've upgraded to the full version and been watching some tutorials on YT. I must say, there is no need for another DAW for mixing! Bitwig has a nice mixing view.

Anyway, I still haven't found a solution for the audio driver release in Windows after quiting Bitwig. The only solution is to use my Mini Mac for music making and internet browsing, which is not bad of course πŸ˜‰ The only thing I need to do is shutdown my pc after finishing my work!

Are you using ASIO4ALL by any chance?

If you are, check this out: https://github.com/dechamps/FlexASIO

No, not asio4all. I'm using the latest ASIO driver by Tascam US 4x4 HR.

I haven't experienced this with another DAW. Anyway, the support of Bitwig told me that they can't replicate that, so I think it's related to Tascam driver in Windows. I will try to find a way to release the audio driver other than run Reaper and close it.

I feel like the project modulators are unreal and change the DAW completely. I say this because I would not consider it a mixing stage tool for me, but an arrangement tool instead. I could have 4-5 macros setup and dramatically change a loop over time just by jamming out and recording my knob movement.

I could be wrong here, just diving in, but this reminds me of using the Octratrack fader except FAR more powerful and deep.

Yeah... like you said, you can set up some macros and easily change lots of different parameters across multiple tracks over time.

Changing Scenes in the Clip Launcher is useful, but it's either this one or that one. With project level macros, you can morph between all sorts of states and so easy to setup. Wanna morph between different sounds across synths on multiple tracks with 1 knob? Easy to do.

Would work great for live performance... or for someone who likes performance oriented studio sessions (like me)

Yeah, much more capable than the Octatrack for that sort of morphing cause you can set up as many macros as you want. Connect them to knobs or sliders on your midi controller and 'play' them in realtime.

Plus of course there are also the Bitwig Note Expressions. And there are starting to be CLAP plugins that support them.

I'm still trying to figure out my workflow on this. Lets say I have an 8 bar loop going, I copy paste the bars for 4-5 mins length, map a bunch of stuff a few macros and jam while I record.

I think from there I'd probably go in and fine tune other knobs and work more on modulating each individual track where needed.

Honestly that may be it. I feel like that's almost too easy and I am missing something, lol.

Think a MIDI fighter would be a good controller to pair up with bitwig for this type of working?

Interesting video along these lines...
