Also add to me to list of people who would be thrilled to see an Icarus 3! I'd pay for a VST3 to work without the VST2 needing to be scanned by the host and for the return of MPE to the VST3. MPE in Icarus VST2 was awesome.

Thanks for your work. I'll be definitely buying more of your synths now, at least you will get more support from me for years of work and struggle. Next will be gladiator 4 upgrade for me, then probably Electra on black Friday. And never say never.
Looking forward, not backward.
Btw really loving Warlock, just the perfect synth for me right now, been using it alot since release.

Yes MPE still works in the VST2. I meant when I used VST2. That will be gone sooner or later in Cubase and likely other DAWs though.

I totally understand why you're quitting. The toxicity some people exhibit online is detrimental to a good mental health. It caused me problems too, until I found a technological solution to this problem.
I use a mean words filter with an extensive dictionary that covers many languages and word variations. This filter auto-delete any nasty emails I might get. The same tech can be used to filter out insults and threats from web browsing. It's super useful and efficient.
I can still get criticism and that's fine. I never had any problems with criticism as long as it's done with respect and honesty.
Getting angry over things like audio software to the point of threatening a developer is not acceptable behavior.
I once heard a YouTuber saying he got death threats because of his tiny houses videos. So any topic can be inflammatory to some people. Even the most trivial things like small houses... How crazy is that?

We will miss you, Marcus (and Troels and Mac.) Thank you for all your excellent plug-ins and support. FWIW, I agree with your decision. As someone who had a heart attack due largely to my brother's greed and ignorance (he signed on with a faith healer who claimed to be able to raise the dead- literally- and in so doing lost his wife to cancer and also claimed to have rights to some of my parents' property,) I fully understand the toll that emotional pressure can have physically. And your kids have to come first! I pray that you all are blessed in future endeavors and find peace.

Sounds like you could use some rest. Wishing you true rest and goodness from God.
Matthew 11:28-30 King James Version (KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
If the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
These days, more and more, I want less and less from the world but am content with peace beyond measure and understanding as one called out of the world, the pride of life and hedonism, and unto spiritual freedom and rest.
P.s. normally, I don't bring up my spiritual beliefs on kvr, but as I have experience with Markus, throughout the years, I see him as a friend. With love, wish you the truest best thing I can give - just pointing to the light.
God Bless

They can't until the person lets it get to them. Markus clearly has other things happening and finally hit his breaking point (oddly enough this happened once before where he basically declared the same thing then Warlock was released). But he wasn't helping himself with the adversarial attitude. Can't do that as the face of the company. There are other choices that can be made when dealing with assholes, including not engaging at all.j wazza wrote: Wed Sep 06, 2023 2:42 pm i dont get how trolls on kvr can give someone health problems and why trolling would stop him from making new products. You are right. If you don't have a skin of steel you should avoid being the support and face of the company. But that being said, this is way harder than most people think when running a small company. The amount of bs you have to go through is completely insane, and I'm not just talking about rude people on forums. It's effing everything. Some guy buys something from you and he doesn't receive his product because his email box is overfull, or has a spamfilter and he never checks it. Then he opens a complaint on Paypal and you have no way of actually contacting him because his email is not working. Then he goes out on a forum telling everybody you are running a scam. Sh!t like this happens _all_ _the_ _time_.DashOfLime wrote: Thu Sep 07, 2023 3:39 am They can't until the person lets it get to them. It wears you down. Either you develop a skin of steel or you decide life is to short. But I agree with you. Simply not engaging with people who just want to mess with you is probably the most effective way.

Take care of yourself and know that there are many more of us who are grateful for the great plug-ins you have developed than the trolls who curse the internet, unfortunately we're not nearly as vocal

Sad to hear, been a great fan of your work under Tone2 and other companies. I wish you all the best and thank you for your service, Markus!

Sorry to hear this, I have 3 of his synths and appreciate all of them.
I wonder if he could sell the intellectual property to another developer to continue with them? I'm sure they are fairly technical and nuanced so maybe it'd be a small market, but it would be nice to let his work(s) continue to evolve

Markus, you have to stick with the continued support of your customers, and forget about what individuals say anonymously: they are not representative of anything. That's all you should care about.
I wish you all the best.

I too wish Markus all the best and indeed if he finds the interactions on kvr too much and detrimental for his health, he should either find someone else (troels?) to do it or indeed not participate here.
But let us not lose sight of what was the 'final straw'.... bmanic is not a troll. come on!! ... he is one of the longest standing contributors here at kvr (joined 2003), one with golden ears I might add.
Though I don't' remember his name offhand, that he does sound design for so many companies suggest he isn't really anonymous. ( a simple google search reminded me of his name...)
