This is sure to be a very interesting and feature-rich update.
I really like this developer.
I just have a question regarding the update.
To upgrade to V3, not having Icarus 2.5, I have to pay 149 euros and to upgrade to V3 the upgrade costs 83 euros
If I want the V3 without the Icarus, it costs 149 + 83 = 232 euros.
I must certainly have missed a few things.

This post really made me smile as a developer.
"V3" is not the name of a product. It is a term that is used for a software version. v3.0 means version 3.0
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning
Usually it starts with 1.0. The next update is 1.1 and so on. Major updates usualy rise the bigger number: 2.0, 3.0 etc

I understood that V3 is a version of the Icarus.
What I wanted to say (without the Icarus), I don't have the Icarus vst (not yet purchased).
I just wanted to know how it works for the upgrade to version 3, having not yet purchased the Icarus.
The why of the calculation in my post with Icarus 2.5 and the price of the upgrade to version V3.
So, to put it simply, if I buy the Icarus 2.5 now, will I have to pay for the upgrade to have the V3 version of the Icarus?

You didn't seriously think he thought the name of the product was going to be "V3" did you? It's obviously a shorthand. The full name is in the thread title. I think everyone knows about versioning.Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 10:57 pm This post really made me smile as a developer.![]()

If I purchase Icarus v1.2 knowing that I already have the v1.0 update, how much would it cost to upgrade to version 1.8 (not the 2.5, this upgrade seems suspicious to me) then to buy the latest V3 synth directly please ? Does it include VAT ? For V3 product only or for both of them ? Is the latest upgrade free for the $99 update users ? Can I stack upgrades ? For example : v1x3=v3 upgrade. So I simply need to purchase v1 three times.
And did anyone understand a word ?

FAQ:
Is the upgrade free?
The update to v3.0 is a major update. The upgrade is free for anyone who bought Icarus2 directly from tone2.com after November 2023. All others can upgrade with a big discount.
...
The product is still under development. The final feature set and the prices will be officialily annouced when the plugin is released. The price will be fair and reasonable.

Not everyone is a computer expert and not everyone is a native english speaker.
Since a simple answering of questions without getting attacked or posting bullshit by anyone isn't possible on kvr we will not further be answering questions here as this time is missiong for development and customers. We do not have a support forum here. If you need something you'll have too use official way through our website.
There is also a FAQ on the first page of this thread.

There is actually 5-6 jerks here in kvr, which act like they r feudal lords, who own kvr,but new users, they are just newbies, probably are not aware what vst is,so not everyone is negative, just interested and for them developer's attitude is almost hostile, not friendly at all.Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Sun Dec 10, 2023 7:19 amHe wrote:" I want the V3 without the Icarus"Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Dec 10, 2023 12:14 amYou didn't seriously think he thought the name of the product was going to be "V3" did you? I personally appreciate my time and work and don't give a hack what a user or developer think about me and my work.Cheers

Indeed my English is not the best.
But that doesn't stop us from having respect and unfortunately some people really don't have their place here, because their only motivation is to f**k up and nothing else.
It's up to Kvr to clean up and kick them off the forum.
But apparently these kinds of people are appreciated here by some and that's a shame.
Not the first time there have been deviations and nothing has been done to remedy them.
I'm not a moron.
When I say without Icarus, it’s because I didn’t buy the vst, it seems simple to understand though.
Concerning the developer's attitude, a sad reaction nonetheless and not the smartest réaction
Not a very relevant commercial choice.
It’s still the same idiot (me) who would be supposed to buy his products.
Even if not an English specialist, it is easy to understand the link in my words.
Especially as it is explained subsequently and insisted on the famous phrase (without Icarus).
In short, it is really a shame about this type of comment and reaction, which borders on condescension and for some people a form of contempt for others.
kvr is a really nice forum, but cleaning up is at some point a wise decision and a matter of common sense regarding people who have no place on a music and discussion forum.
There is indeed a charter on Kvr.
Perhaps it should be applied for certain people and regardless of the people, a charter must be applied, otherwise we can do anything and why have a charter if not applied?
Unless messiness and shitty behavior is allowed here.
But as said above, then no need for a charter if not respected.
A music forum is once again a place of exchange and respect.

Your post was perfectly understandable, even if not perfect English (it was close enough!) which is why it was funny for tone2 to act as though you didn't understand the concept of software versions because of the way you wrote it. This thread has been very positive, I don't really understand the condescension against you and then claims of attacks against them.Trancer wrote: Sun Dec 10, 2023 9:37 am Indeed my English is not the best.

Thank you for your reply.
Even though my English was not at all perfect, it seemed understandable to me nonetheless.
At first glance Tone 2 does not suffer from the crisis given their behavior towards their customers.
No problem, my stupid money will go elsewhere.
Among other developers with more respectful behavior towards customers.
Too bad, I really like their products.
But for me respect is essential and it is a capital value and it is as important as the quality of the products.
Goodbye Tone 2.

Hello Trancer,
there is a missunderstanding which resulted through the language gap. You had written "I want the V3 without the Icarus". This made us assume that you thought about "V3" as the name of a product.
We apologize for missunderstanding the intention of post of your post. We just wanted to be helpful and answer your question.
And it was very frustrating to see that our attempt to be helpful and seriously answer a question did result in a unnecessary, harsh and aggressive reacation from others that were not even be involved.
We got attacked with private messages by kvr members who also had previously posted in this thread. These PMs contained words like "Ideot".
The reason why we will move on are these people and not you. Sorry if this was not clear.

i didnt read through the whole topic but i just had positive replies from Tone2, especially if you write them directly they were always polite and also helpful. dont fear and write them an email!
only once in the beginning where we had a discussion about their copy protection but after some talks tone2 also provided a solution and were even sorry for the hassle. and since then im a very happy customer and i dunno what should be said against them. yes the upgrade price for icarus 3 seems kinda not-typical tone2 and they said already it is not the final price, BUT check the upgrade price for AVENGER 2 and compare the enhancements/new features of both versions....
im not for upgradeprices over 50 bucks (around) but it also depends on the product etc. so yeah, just to provide a comparison. and no if something is not cool imma also post it here. thats why i am still sad to read that there will be no new tone2 products, but hey who knows and im glad we still get new versions!
