Most likely it's because it makes demoing their products simple and easy. LUNA is also a marketing tool used to draw in customers, it's a business after all. And giving away a DAW that's well worth a couple of hundred dollars, is well within reason to require the built in marketing that comes along with it. I'm not sure why people have a problem with iLok, never had a single problem for the 10+ years of use.

I’m one of the one’s who couldn’t ever get it to download. I’ll try again sometime later when UA have had a chance to work through the bugs with Windows. Looks promising if they get Melodyne integration at some point.
Until then, I think Waveform 13 might be the best free daw available.

So is Logic pro, Cubase, Fl Studio, est, est... please.
I don't subscribe to the bugman mentality, your personality is the product you use.
Please by all means enjoy the free useless root kit driver, that interferers with other applications stability.
That philosophy works for me. :hyper: :tu:

Logic is also marketing and helps sell Apple computers, don't kid yourself.
Cubase isn't free last I checked, neither is FL Studio.

If you don't like their marketing and business, by all means skip it, really not a big deal. There's plenty of room for different ideas of offering free software, just look all over the internet. It's a model that helps sell their products, which is a business decision. You don't have to agree with it.

Like I've said, I've been using iLok for over a decade without a problem. You may have a different customer experience and you're welcome to your opinion. But, putting a blanket statement over a product for an entire community isn't practical.

More making up crap I never said. Another contrarian, condescending forum gate keep elitist.
iLok is trash and a liability for a DAW, and another point of failure. Bite me, it's my objective opinion, for me. Not for you, so pull your large head in, sometimes it's not about you. :hihi:

The material cost is not the objective also, nor did I say any sort of restrictive licencing is bad.
The absurdness of iLok for a free (of cost) product is pretty damn silly.
This is different than freebee plugins promotions. :tu:

So the whole reason people were using LUNA before, I remember, is because it has a more "analogue" sound summing the busses together. SO they'd take their mix stems into it, and SUM it there into a mix, something about something bus plugins emulating analogue console circuits, I need to look up a video or something lol

I stumbled on this today and installed it. One annoying aspect is in the UA connect app. After you let the app download and install LUNA, the 30 day trial plugin pack shows up as individual plugins on the plugins screen with a 'download' button. It doesn't say anything about trial there. Or, at least, it didn't on my PC until AFTER I clicked those individual Download buttons on the plugins screen and let the app install them. Only then did it switch to saying 30 day trial. :dog:

Initially, I thought the plugins were included gratis as part of the LUNA app. I had a bit of frown when the plugins each showed 30 day trial after installing. :hihi:

Also, I understand they've locked SHAPE to LUNA to be a feature of LUNA but it would be nice to be able to use that instrument in Cubase.
