Got a quick response from BorisFX on my ticket.
- really thorough and extensive reply for each of my concerns
A couple of things on Samp
- authorizing can be offline, no need for internet really
- it may "call home" if internet is up when started, but no requirement as reply to direct question
About upgrades they said to provide the Magix serial on ProX8 I have and they get back to me with an offer.
- in the process to move, so will not have studio up until dec or so, but will check it out then
Ask them for an offer at least. To get people onboard I think they will have to listen a bit this once.
- I keep forgetting, $100 is not much these days as 5 years ago even with inflation that has been
Trial will not interfere with earlier installations they said, so it should be safe to try it out.
- so can check that looks is not downgraded if now vectorized for hidpi, not sure
Manual is still local, or can be, so no need to be online just getting assistance on new version.
A couple of things from my concerns on todo list, new optimized video engine is in the works.
- no promises on any time schedule on these things though
I can sense good people, and that goes a long way, so I will be in touch checking it out...after all with perpetual licenses you need not upgrade until really having things you want in place, so even $185 upgrade is not annually as subscriptions are....

Hmm....instead of this personalized discount offer, they should provide a generous blanket offer for existing users at least for X.. version users.
This will help improve their tainted image a lot. If they give $99 and $129 or $149/- (suite) this will help user be loyal to them for a long term!
Otherwise many users will just bid goodbye!!
Hope BorisFX reads this!!

I've been using Samplitude for at least 20 years, and for the past 20 years, I've regularly upgraded from Music Studio to Samplitude Pro X7. Offering a €165 upgrade makes me think Boris is taking me for a fool! Especially since the new features offered, which I don't have in Pro X7, seem pretty unexciting.
I've already thought about switching DAWs.
Ableton has been catching my eye for a while, especially since you can find so many things made with Ableton online, whereas with Samplitude, apart from Kraznet, which has excellent tutorials, you have to admit it's a complete void.
I didn't switch because I have to start learning all over again. But if Boris thinks I'm the goose that lays the golden eggs, I think I'll make the effort!

I still have my original Sek'D floppy and CD but won't be upgrading. The glitchy BorisFX web site is a joke and samplitude doesn't need any more of that (there's plenty already
). The upgrade pricing is terrible too. Luckily, Cakewalk's demise prepared me well
.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Yes, it is - the Suite would have to be compared with Cubase Pro (actually the Suite additions typically aren't even as valuable as the stuff that's included with Cubase Pro) and the highest non-discounted upgrade price from earlier version to Cubase Pro 14 is about 250€ - so that's not a deal at all - and what's more: they don't even mention what version you're upgrading to - it still might be X8 and since they don't mention any grace period it might be another costly upgrade once X9 is released for good.scatman84 wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 12:02 pm Even for earlier version users and the X8 users, they could give a blanket sweet deal thereby solidifying the already gained user base!
But nope! $185 and $275/- for upgrade is too high for X7 and back users too!!
Plus they can't even find my Samplitude license when I log in.
When they can't even get this halfway right, two months or so after taking over...

So as loyal Samplitude users let's collectively decide that this offer is not acceptable to us and we need a better, sweeter deal if they want to win us back!
At least for all X version users! (I've been a user since Sam Pro 9 till Sam X5 pro)
Let us all mail them such??
Let's ask for a blanket upgrade price of $99 and $129/- (suite)
Asking for upgrade price they're mentioning now, in this economy?? Almost a crime and a surefire way to lose existing loyal customers let alone gaining new fans!!

What was Samplitude's strength? Does it support Ableton Link?HERVE59 wrote: Fri Aug 22, 2025 6:06 pmAbleton has been catching my eye for a while, especially since you can find so many things made with Ableton online, whereas with Samplitude, apart from Kraznet, which has excellent tutorials, you have to admit it's a complete void.

If you are asking that chances are you are way outside its target demographic...

Samplitude was the one DAW that was supposed to be able to have different samplerates in a project. That's all I know from about 2004

So it looks like the new version of Samplitude is out, except it's not called x9 but rather Samplitude 2025. Has anyone downloaded a free trial or bought it and tried it out? Also Boris fx is offering owners of Music Studio X8 a cross grade to Samplitude Pro 2025 for $185 or Samplitude Pro Suite 2025 for $275. I am not aware of what the pricing crossgrade/upgrade structure was historically under magix but this seems like a good deal going from both a 2023 edition to 2025 AND going from Music Studio to Pro Suite. Any thoughts?

To compare a bit with Finale that shut down and you got a rather good crossgrade discount with Steinberg Dorico, maybe BorisFX should consider a special "get onboard" offer to have people over!
But one never knows when Black Friday is here soon, what happends.
What is the history of BorisFX regarding campaigns?
I only have some BorisFX effect bundle with PowerDirector of theirs before, so never been direct customer.
I have no doubt that Reaper can do anything you would want with audio:
- but I would not enjoy the journey.
- this what it's about for me
- as retired I am doing my music hobby since 40 years full time now
- I want to enjoy the process and not jumping on anything because it's free or really low price tag
- tried twice really hard but failed to even get the looks to be pleasent and readable with my "old eyes"
- and many functions are a bit "hacker style" for me
I ran Cubase 2015 - 2018, and they ran some survey in between there to hear what people want etc.
- I think it might be a good idea for BorisFX to do the same
- know you customer, kind of
- otherwise it's just guessing and see how many pay for upgrades and wasted development, kind of
I got mixed messages on the surround part in Samp 2025
- Atmos said you need "suite" for that, then I thought Dolby 5.1 would still be in basic version
- but then it said something that made me think even Dolby 5.1 was in "suite" too
Surround is not the main course, but since my old Sonar Artist 2015 does not do that, fun to experiement with a bit.
I think Samp will be my goto over time if they listen to good arguments what must be fixed.
- probably won't pay €150 every year, but in between when features are fixed

Reaper is always a fall back DAW! Rock solid and reliable! But we sometimes click with different vibes, feel and environment. Samplitude is that for me! I just happen to compose differently in it!
The only hope for BorixFX's sales is from its existing customers. They must offer us a more lucrative and affordable upgrade; otherwise, I think Samp will again be transferred to another corporate entity.

I think the suits will then instead decide that it's just not profitable to keep maintaining the programme and kill it off.otherwise, I think Samp will again be transferred to another corporate entity.
