I'll add a README to the windows zip in 1.1 explaining what to do - that would be way more user friendly than the current 'heres a zip figure it out' mechanism i shipped in 1.0. chuckle.

As I mentioned upstream, a big motivation for this project was to find out places where our overarching infrastructure in surge-land was still incomplete. While we have good windows installers, we don't have a good uniform quick and easy way to add a new windows installer for a new project (whereas our mac installer generator is all scripted and signing integrated and in a shared project) hence the zip file here. It's on my (non-public) list of 'stuff i learned which we need to fix' but that's why this (and the new exciting sapphire plugins Don Cross and I also shipped last week at https://github.com/baconpaul/sapphire-plugins/tags ) are zip file only.

Just released 1.0.4

https://github.com/baconpaul/six-sines/ ... tag/v1.0.4

Fixes a problem where VST3 hosts with note id support could, in some cases, result in stuck notes on unison legato patches in the synth. Recommend all cubase and S1 users upgrade, and all bitwig users continue to prefer CLAP version.

aye same here, is ok in Reaper cos it adds a scroll bar on the side of the Six Sines gui so i can scroll to see the bottom, but Cubase doesn't and is just a bit too big for my laptop screen, so i just use it in Reaper, cos it's a killer synth

Oh cool. Im using Reaer also but I have noticed that vst3 do not implement scroll bar. I wonder If I was using Clap.....Ill check it out.

i get the scroll bar when using the vst3, but no scroll bar with the Clap version

Yeah for some reason Reaper doesn't seem to add scrolls to claps just vst3s. I'll let schwa know on the reaper forum.

but the real answer is to do scaling. but to do that I need to log into windows to make sure the HDPI "choices" the OS made work with the scaling of the ui. So it's not been top of list this week :)

Great piece of software!

This is not a deal breaker in any way, just a realization that you can't load DX7 sysex files in to Six Sines like you can with Dexed and others. I believe the developer stated clearly that he doesn't want Six Sines to be a DX7 clone or emulation. However my learning FM programming (which I've always wanted to feel like I've mastered ever since the original DX7 came out) would certainly map to Six Sines. I'm also looking forward to many more awesome presets. For example the "Schoolhouse" EP preset is a great start to a set of usable FM based EPs, always a valuable part of a sound library! Well done BaconPaul and team!

Yeah on a world where Plogue's OPS7 exists and sells for $50 there is no need for yet another DX7 clone on software

Six Sines is a bit different and that's a good thing

Post

Six Sines is basically a 6-op Reface DX sans the effects block. :)
For free!

Get on it.

Yeah that's right IvyBirds! With dexed as a solid Free and Open Source DX7 and the Plogue OPS7 as a sample-perfect DX7 for 50 bucks, i didn't feel like i needed to sit in that spot. Also the yamaha envelopes are a different shape than the ADSR envelopes we have (allowing essentially a decay in the sustain and hold phases) etc...

I do have some python code sitting around that cracks TX81Z sysex and I thought about maybe you know..... but decided to keep the project as a sort of little experiment in its own right

Would love to see your take on a TX81Z

One idea I have had for a long time is to make a Quad TX81Z plugin, but since I am not a programmer can't pull off

If you look at the TX81Z algos the first 4 are all single carriers with three modulators.
algctrl.gif
The idea is to take those four and then arrange the output of each carrier to be the basis of all 8 algos

So essentially you would have 16 operators but arranged in 4 groups of 4, with the potential of each group of four modulating another group of four

Or if you used Algo 8 you could have four independent groups of four creating a layered patch or even playing the same patch with the carriers detuned from each other

To me this seems like a unique way to get new timbres and explore 4op FM in a new way while also making 16 op FM possible

But maybe my mind has a bit to much malted hops and bong resin in it who knows lol

You can have this on TX81Z itself in multitimbral mode! :P
