Ah that, makes sense of course.
Still no plans as it requires lots of UI work and its kind of a big feature.
I'll keep that in mind anyways.

Thank you for listening, Tilr8 (and, of course, for creating and sharing RipplerX)

wow! sounds really nice! congratulations!

wonderful sounding bells, gongs, marimba etc :-)

4 wishlist items:
+/- or prev/next buttons for the preset browser (or menu)

an undo function - even better: an undo history

a more sophisticated preset browser, with subfolders etc

a switch to turn on/off the keyboard display
(imho it's not really necessary and eats up quite some GUI-space)

more to come probably ;-)

If you add clap you can add polyphonic external modulation. MPE would be great but probably big work to fully implement on a free synth. I'd love a whole little row of buttons like the velocity scale one but with assignable midi cc. Especially coupled with MPE or channel per note.

I'm not sure how your parameter calculations are currently handled but if everything isn't just calculated at not on them I'd love to see release velocity implemented.

I'd also gladly pay for good money this with a wee bit more modulation and audio in. Especially with MTS ESP included.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Not really, these days you can modulate via an external LFO on most DAWs, which one are you using?
This doesn't really make patches portable between DAWs, which is kind of an important point of distinction... This is why most virtual instruments have their own built in modulation and their own built in patch browsers - because the user experience for both wildly differs between DAWs.

This doesn't load on Catalina in Logic 10.5.1 but I might have missed the minimum specs somewhere.
macOs just complains that it isn't compatible and should be immediately deleted from the components folder!
I do love me a bit of physical modelling though so I hope it can work..

It does that because it's not signed - go into terminal and enter

Code: Select all

sudo xattr -cr /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/components/RipplerX.component
then your password

Thanks!

Thanks, makes sense, suggestions always welcome.

Clap is planned when JUCE 9 is released, I can't make promises on MPE most params require recalculation of partials and can be too expensive to modulate (like pitch bend), that said if its once per block (unlike pitch bend which is interpolated per sample) can still be viable.

Audio In is implemented from 1.4.0, check new releases, suppose I can add velocity to release and noise decay for starters.

Yes, lots of views from that one :)

Yes, realized that as was explained, makes sense, still probably not adding the feature, requires lots of UI to make it work.

just a small note and suggestion:
i personally have to more and more become to like the (old) UnfilteredAudio/fabfilter
approach of modulation:
a (kind of) dynamic modulation bar at the bottom that is drag&drop connectable with various elements
keeps the main UI clean and easy to read and leave all options for various modulations

Noted, if you could post a screenshot maybe would help, not sure when I would implement such a feature though.

It doesn't really require too much for the basics. A dropdown menu with submenus and multiple columns (easy with JUCE), prev/next patch button, save dialog with some text input fields. Just the MVP. Can always be upgraded from there.

I think patch portability is rather important.

Thought you were talking about the LFOs, now you're talking about preset management? Preset management I'm more likely to add in the future.

Am I the only awkward one as always who is using RipplerX for generating samples and using them as layers in a sampler like TAL-Sampler? :) I love this synth as I can finally stop using percussion sounds from old Rolands, Korgs etc. and these can sound way cooler, oh yes. ;)

So essentially I get to use RipplerX sounds with all the modulation options of a subtractive sampler and then save the patch. 8)
