Well of course.
I'm telling you, there will be lots of presets for this VSTi - similar to Spire, Diva etc.
It's 99% of hardware, it sounds great and it's easy to use. :hihi:
Someone is already recreating JP-8000 banks. :D

Btw, this came out of nowhere! Just when I was sure we'll never have decent JP emulator, Arturia did it, even though it's quite different from most of their stuff. :tu:

Your enthusiasm might be clouding your perspective, but I'm glad you're stoked.

I'm demoing the JUP-8000 V this morning and.....meh. I like it but it gets destroyed by plugins like Icarus 3 with its JP8000 Osc and others like Spire, Avenger, Rapid, etc for supersaws. I understand the 8000 V is meant to be as accurate to the hardware as possible and that is probably its greatest weakness.

It's an old hardware synth that is competing with modern technology which has advanced light years since 1997. I can see if you used to own an 8000 and wish to have it back but just as a supersaw synth I feel that there are better alternatives for that sound.

I will say that there are few people in this quadrant of the galaxy who love Unison/Spread, Supersaw etc more than I do. So the 8000V's sound is not bad at all just not as good as what I already have in my arsenal for the kinds of sounds I make.

The Multi-Arp is the 8000V's greatest attraction for me as I've always loved playing Arps both hardware and soft and having multiple Arps at the same time can lead to some very complex sounds.

So having said all that I would be a buyer at about $40 but at my offer of $149 it's going to be a hard pass.

Same. Not spending €149 for it. Why does it not get an intro price, just because it releases at the same time as V Collection? Synthx V and MiniBrute did, so why not this and Pure LoFi?

It just sounds harsh, I don't know what is wrong with people who're excited about it.
I suppose those who're into SynthWave won't be bothered.

I notice this with most plugin emulations. They hold on until you start moving things around, messing with the filter etc...
It seems to me like the "resolution" of the filters in plugins is "smaller" if this makes any sense. It's like...it's skipping some dots, as if the bit depth is lower.
Plugin manufacturers wanna optimize CPU so they cut corners, and it seems to me they focus on the filter specifically to save up CPU, which in return degrades the fidelity and as a result the original intent of making a convincing emulation is being lost.

I think it's absolutely ace! Great sound, typical Roland usefulness and simplicity, dead easy to make good sounds.

The overall sound is probably slightly more 'refined' than that of a real analogue synth, but I'd defy all but the most golden‑eared to tell the difference in a blindfold test. The JP8000 does have a certain sound quality that is all its own — not as plummy as Korg's Prophecy, perhaps, but richer than any of the sample‑based synths I've come across.

Good question. Let's take the full price of Collection 11 of $700 and divide by the 45 products it contains. That's about $15.50 each which is a great price if you end up using all 45.

So $149 for one product does seem out of hand, new or not.

Why not just give us a "Pick 5 of your favorites" for $150? That's $30 for each one. They would probably make as much or more over time as I'm more likely to dish out $150 more than once over a period of time than $399 once which is my current offer. Especially if new products were added over time and qualified for the Pick Five.

I don't think it's just my enthusiasm...

This synth is capable of a wide range of sounds - trance, rock, Bach, whatever you want. It's not as "shiny" as Spire or Virus TI2. For the same reason I prefer Virus C over TI2.
It complements Spire or Diva, because it offers something unique.
If you listen Monopoly carefully, it also goes for this "early VA" sound, and it works. For this reason, I also prefer Triton over newer sample-based synths. It's a bit dirty.
I'd say it's sweet spot between true analog and contemporary VA.

That's a nice testimonial. You have convinced me to demo. I have Arturia's Analog Lab Pro, and the presets there for the Jup-8000 V did not catch my ear as anything out of the ordinary.

Such as....

Anyway, as always there are two factors when it comes to the sound of a synth:

1. How it sounds
2. How it sounds compared to the competition focused on the same type of sounds.

I don't hate the sound of the 8000V at all but when I put it up against the other synths in my arsenal it just can't compete....*for the kind of sounds I make*.

It seems to suffer from that mysterious "something" missing in the sound of Arturia synths. I'm not saying they sound bad there's just something about them. I couldn't possibly put it into words as I really don't know what it is but I have seen others allude to something similar.

But again I'd be a buyer at $40. I could lose that much at a blackjack table before my seat gets warm so if the plugin amuses me even for a few days it's worth the purchase.

I know, right? Maybe a recession will bring back $5 minimums on 3:2 single deck.

Absolutely. It seems like a no brainer to me from a business sense. Yet, Cherry Audio seem to be the only company offering customisable packages

That's what I'm talkin' about! The classic JP sound - can't deny it. Whether you like that sound or not that's a different matter. Pretty niche for sure, I mean, it's not like people are going to start making 1999 trance again (wouldn't be a bad thing, imo).

Doesn't mean the 80x0 is purely a trance machine though. It's built on the heritage of the Jupiter, and while it's definitely lacking that analog *something*, you can still bang out some very authentic Juno/Jupiter style sounds. I use mine for synthwave and it is absolutely PERFECT for that. Happy the Juno chorus is available on the 8000v because that's what I run my JP through.

Now, there are some things I wished the 8000v had - that previously mentioned noise waveform on OSC2, wish it also had sysex support because of the tons of JP presets out there (sound bank popularity for the 8000v is going to be ridiculous I think), and I wish they had included the layers. Some of the JP's truly outstanding sounds are Performance based, and although you can layer parts in your daw or analog lab, it's a key piece of functionality from the hardware that I really hoped was going to be emulated. That being said, it's very easy to do in Logic (track stacks) and in stack mode, it barely registers any activity on a M2 Pro. Speaking of which, I tried the "Luscious Pad" preset that seems to be a problem for people, but on my system it is a complete non-issue. A 7 note chord registers 6% on Arturia's meter, barely anything on Logic's.

This is the most accurate multi-platform JP-80x0 emulation right now.

That is exactly what Arturia did in 2012 with their “Hybrid Madness” sale. They allowed us to choose from their selection of synths This was how I jumped on their bandwagon. The next year the new stuff was added to V Collection 3.. which became their operating model. Add new instruments, then bundle them into the collection later. I think this was when they dropped the idea of choosing and building a custom collection ( Hybrid Madness )

to the Jup-8000 V.. Is it not patch compatible with the OG?? Dang

It’s always been a selling point for me, to have the scores of prior patches from original instruments be compatible and import ready for the Arturia emulation instruments. Dropping that… pushes away value imo.
