I have a very lightly used black 128 Speedbumpy surface that I am looking to sell for 85.00 plus 15.00 for shipping. I have gone back to the original surface as I just didn’t get on with the slits very well. DM me or email me at gil.gowing@gmail.com if interested. PayPal or Venmo accepted. Thanks.

Hey folks!
I just made a video where I talk (and talk) about the new surface from Sound Workshop (Chris AKA TigerBalm).
Spoiler: I totally love it.

Hi Linnstrumentalists! I have bought a used 128 and got a Speedbump surface with it. It's a blue one that can be simply put on the top of the factory surface. Is it a big difference in feel and difference between this and the later models (the black and white ones)?
(I'm a very beginner and can't decide to play with or without the speedbumpy.)

Chris or someone else could better answer this question for you, but I'll tell you what I know...
As I recall, those blue overlay Speedbumpy surfaces were early prototypes, made from a much different (somewhat stickier) material. So, as I understand it anyway, it wouldn't feel like the finished product, which is made using the same manufacturing process, materials, and top-coat as the official LinnStrument playing surface.
That said, I don't own one of these alternate playing surfaces, but maybe just use the prototype as it was intended: i.e. to see if you like the tactility better than the original; and if so, maybe endeavor to purchase a proper Speedbumpy surface.
Cheers!

HI LarsDaniel, thanks so much for that thorough review video! It's funny a lot of the comments you made are making me remember a lot of the same thoughts I had 3 years ago, like how you said the bumpy surfaces helps tie off the string instrument metaphor.
Pollner the black/white bumpy surfaces will work much better than the handmade blue overlay you have for two reasons. First, the new surface has better material: it's firmer and has a low friction coating. Second, The new surface is a full sized replacement for the factory surface, so it gets pinned down by the top plate which allows you to apply force and slide without shifting anything.
The blue overlay is still fun and interesting to play with, but it will not be well suited to doing bends while applying pressure.
Edit: the 200 sized surfaces are here and I'm shipping them out! I'll check back in in a week when everything has shipped.

63 orders are out the door! Here are the next 75. What have I gotten myself into? (Total orders about 185).
Starting with US orders first because those are the easiest. Then going international. The orders are almost exactly 50/50 US/international. Which is a testament to the reach of Roger’s creation.

I received my new white 200 Speedbumpy surfaces. Soybeans on white look great.
See pic of Speedbumpy "soybean" (top) and Original stock surface (bottom).
. .
I'll be installing and using white Speedbumpy on both of these units but posted to show it looks very similar to stock surface.

I can’t thank you enough for making this happen. One thing is to get the idea, but to have the power to go all the way through with it demands a standing ovation!
It has truely elevated my joy of playing the linnstrument, and definitely also raised the bar for what I am able to play. It is actually hard for me to put into words, that feeling of “This Is The Way”.
And what is also interesting is, that I in no way anticipated how good it would feel. It totally took me by surprise, but in hindsight I can reflect on why the design makes so much sense to me, as a player who only ever uses the unquantized mode.
I come to think of a steel guitar, where you have strings that produce a continuous gliding pitch when your steel slides up or down the string - very much like the linny: If you had no markings on your steel guitar, where would you put them? Well, what has undoubtedly worked, is to put the “fret” marks exactly under the spot on the strings where the steel should hit to be in tune.
As you guys say over there, you hit that ball out of the park.
