I'm apparently a sucker (FOMO) when something I'd been [somewhat] interested in goes half price. I bought two Orchestral Tools libraries I've not used (Salu & Monolith), and I bought Falcon 3

VCV Rack modules:
Sofia's Daughter
SynthTech E352 & E370

FX:
Audiority Big Swarma
NGL, Sofia is on my wishlist. I'll probably buy Sofia's daughter to ward off the GAS for more modules.

Hasn't really been much excitement this year. I tipped XFer a little something for Serum 2. Was Live 12 this year?

I did buy a new M4 Max studio and I didn't think it would be such an upgrade over my M1 Max but Serum 2 and the DSP56k plugins were choking the M1 to death and now they're smooth as can be.

Kind of at the point where it's going to be tough for new things (synths or effects) to be worth it. How is a "vintage style" reverb going to displace Relab 480/VVV/Tai Chi/Relab QRS?

Post

Aberrant DSP Lair was worth it for me as a new / character reverb plugin!

I might spring for a full Max license as well for video synthesis reasons. The M4 runs Vizzie and VSynth super smooth and a Max license costs less than one LZX module.

If IKs Total Studio upgrade is cheap enough, I may get it around December, mainly just for Tonex Max and Pianoverse.

Just got Pigments for £68. Wanted to use it in Analog Lab as I had a lot of presets already and wanted to compare it to Massive X. Happy so far and the price was good.

Just Pigments and VHorns Extended Brass this year, and I thought I was done. But now that BFD shit the bed again, I'm probably grabbing Superior Drummer before the year is up

I'm not sure I actually bought anything this year. It turns out I have a whole lot of stuff that has me mostly covered for the majority of things. Also I get a large pile of updates to the stuff I already have that keep me from being too bored. There's not many things that are new/ exciting enough to get me to spend money. I might grab that new spectral sampler thing that came out as it's very straightforward and something I do often anyway but very streamlined.

Looking back at 2025, acquired more than I expected...

A-tier:
Serum 2 free upgrade - incredible update
Triaz - primary drum machine
Vertigo VSS-2 - excellent glue compressor for busses
Specops - lots of fun
Visu - nice spectral visualizer
ADAPTR Utopia - my go-to verb

B-tier:
UVI Shade - the Pro-Q of of resonant filters, lots of fun
Wave Shifter & Ripple Phaser - keeping the Minimal Audio FX bundle complete
RipplerX - awesome free physical modeler

C-tier:
Dawesome Myth - nice change of pace synth
Beatsurfing CHEatCode, Random, Random Metal - found a bundle sale price too good to pass up, will use for niche applications

No regrets this year.

First year I bought nothing.
Was there any new release?
I would be interested in a Yamaha VL1 emu.
