Chase Bliss Mood MK2 ( Any alternatives in software ? )

The one thing I think nothing really does is let you vary the clock to degrade the sound quality. I guess you could somehow figure out a way to use a rate reducer plugin in conjunction with your playback speed, but you'd have to build a macro to make it happen. I bet it wouldn't be too hard in Bitwig.

Wow this is great.
As an aside it kind of saddens me that things like this don't get the kind of attention they really deserve.
Anyway thanks for the link.

That's why I mentioned UA byome. Between the granular modules and the mod system and the big ass knob that adjusts the sample rate of all the DSP, one can get all kinds of fun stuff going. I'm very much less interested in having an exact match of a random pedal, but it can cover all the same ground.zerocrossing wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 2:43 am The one thing I think nothing really does is let you vary the clock to degrade the sound quality. Byome is a good solution for an ITB Chase Bliss alternative. On the other hand, I would go with Beam, especially after the latest update. It's got distorion, delay, reverb, time modulation, and the Taps and Portals pack allows you to create feedback paths. I don't recall if Byome can do feedback. If I had a block diagram of Chase Bliss Mood, I could probably create a nice emulation

I find this thread a fun exercise, even if it is somewhat futile. The truth is, there’s no reason the MOOD couldn’t be done as a plugin. That said, as you mentioned, BYOME and other plugins, cover a lot of it and much more, but still, the MOOD’s clever set of features makes it a classic.Ah_Dziz wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 4:00 pmThat's why I mentioned UA byome. Why not just buy a MOOD? Lots of reasons. Most of all, it would not really fit in my setup. I guess I could dedicate it to a single instrument, but it also lacks the ability to sync with a MIDI clock, which severely limits how much I could use it. To get the most out of it requires learning its arcane DIP switches, which is surmountable, but annoying. But the most important reason is, I’ve already got a lot of fantastic things that might not be a 1:1 MOOD replacement, but serve very similar functions. Every time I’ve tried to replicate what I hear a MOOD doing, I both fail to some degree, and succeed at making something really special.

If you're using Ableton Live there's this bundle. It's actually quite nice but tbh the before mentioned HZE pedals are better.

The SoundBetter plugins, Halo and Butterfly Effect, can get into the MOOD/Microcosm territory:

I hzetate on the HZE plugins because they don’t have demos, and I’ve been burnt before. What ones do you recommend? Are you using them in Bitwig? Windows?adl wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 7:09 pm If you're using Ableton Live there's this bundle. It's actually quite nice but tbh the before mentioned HZE pedals are better.

So, it hit me that Melda's MXXX might be able to get one in the general vacinity of the Chase Bliss MOOD. It can. I'm not the best at authoring presets for it, but I made a little something and put it in the Online Exchange called "Chase The Bliss Mood." It's not an emulation of the Chase Bliss MOOD, though I think that can be done, but more along the lines of something one might do with a MOOD, if that makes sense. Regardless, I think it's a fun preset, and if you don't already own MXXX, I highly recommend it. It's currently half off, which is still expensive, but when you realize what it comes with and what it can do, it's quite a bargain. I think of it as a modern Eventide H series style effect processor in software.

HZE Pedal Series 2 is officially out now.
https://www.hze-audio.com/pedalseriesvol2/
Still no demo but you can watch a video of them in action. Pretty sure there will be more videos to come:
Also this guy on insta has explanation videos on the old pedal series. Pretty sure he will make some for the new series as well:
