Why haven't Fender gone for the Telecaster shape, amongst overs? Testing the water, maybe.

It looks like Fame guitars have modified their Fender style body shapes. Maybe as a result of the Fender legal action.

I like the T shape.
I see a lot of budget guitars using mahogany bodies instead of poplar or basswood.

Those are cool!

I've gone through many "T" shape guitars of various body and neck woods. The only ones that work for me are maple necks with alder or ash bodies. Though I will say the ash ones which do have a little more "snap" to the tone are way to heavy for me.

I'm not saying there aren't good t and s style guitars made by a wide variety of companies at various price points but the only ones that ring true to my ears are fenders. Hat's of to Sire for making some really good alternatives though.

Apparently, they sent one of the cease-and-desist letters to PRS. Though Servco is trying to walk it back some now that they've pissed off everyone.

Not a fan of prs but maybe they'll (he'll) be willing to call Servco's bluff.

Someone engaged Fox Rothschild to pen a reply that attacks numerous parts of the Fender C&D: https://www.guitarworld.com/gear/electr ... hem-before

That could have been PRS but could equally be another boutique luthier. Judging by the caustic tone of the letter in places, Bienstock, the lawyer who wrote it, definitely had some fun putting it together.

Point no. 3 was pretty funny.

Oh, then it’s recent. I think the first ones said that but I could be wrong.

Ironically, Fender could use it in court: “Even we can’t tell these things apart.”

I own two "Made in Ensenada" Fenders one is a tele and the other strat. Both recent. Both are supposed to be 60's throwbacks. Some 60's features most not. Listed as "Player II Modified.

Would removing the forearm contour cut be enough of a difference in body shape?

At this point, no-one knows. Or even if it's necessary. However, when it comes to things like shoes, minor differences are often all that's needed.

It looks like Fender trademarked the shape in Indonesia last year, which indicates they have a particular shape in mind. The question is how different that horn needs to be. And for the copyright claims in Europe, whether they can demonstrate this is the same shape Leo Fender created in the 1950s. Which might be tricky, according to Bienstock's letter.

At the same time, they've claimed in their response to Bienstock that control placement matters as well. Yet, they're hatched out in the trademark here, which suggests that controls aren't actually fundamental to the body shape claims.

I think the upshot is that Fender not has not only failed to get its ducks in a row but that it's unsure what constitutes a duck.

"Well, if it weighs the same as a duck, then logically.....?"
'A strat!' 'Burn them!'
