The free, pay-what-you-want model is ending. Not because it wasn't working technically, but because of the reception it's had here. Rather than being taken as what it was — years of work given away, with support entirely optional — it's been repeatedly framed as sketchy, as exploiting testers, as something to be suspicious of. If a free model draws that, then there's no reason to keep it.
EightyEight and EightyTen will be priced at $49 on final release. From that point it's unambiguous — a paid product with a limited free trial, the same way Unstable works. No more debate about what's free and what isn't.
Beta versions will no longer be supported once the final releases land, and will be withdrawn.
Until then, the $10 lifetime license offer stands, which is a considerable bargain for anyone who wants in before the change.
I won't be following this thread going forward. Support for licensed customers continues as always through the ticket system on my website, and you're very welcome to use it — I'm always happy to help anyone who's bought in.

Best of luck with all your future productions, whatever you end up making them with. No hard feelings. Morphoice out.
Thank You!
That should make things easier.
So then I expect them to become mature products with all that justifies these prices.
Finally.
All the best to you Morphoice!

Happy now Jamcat.
I bet this has made your day, you’ve successfully driven off a talented independent dev with your little bullying campaign across his threads.
You should be ashamed.

Jamcat was asking basic questions about software that would run on his computer that the developer dodged multiple times. Good grief.

Says Jamcats sidekick, who was also very abusive and tried to delete and cover up when he was called out!
Hope you feel good now

Don’t blame other people for this developer’s erratic behavior. It is just as I called it. But you give me way too much credit anyway. Let’s look at what’s actually changed: very little.

Morphoice is still giving away these “betas” for free. You can still get a full license for $10 during his open-ended beta period. He has always maintained that he was going to start charging for these plugins once they were out of beta.

So the only thing that has actually changed is he has provided a bit more clarity than he had been. Now you know the price he’s been planning on charging, and he has finally stopped with misleading claims that the current versions will somehow magically stop working when a new version is released. That was always just a FOMO tactic to get you to pay the “optional donation” that was really neither optional nor a donation.

But if he expects to charge $45 for his synths, then he’s going to have to get them signed by Apple. So that’s another win you can thank me for, if you like.

This is a good example in the admonitions of "pushing the river" and "pulling the roots"...

Nah. This dev has created so many threads and somehow ends up crying and lashing out over the most minor things in every single one. Seems the really are (potentially) a solid dev, I wouldn’t know, but they do not have the skills for basic customer service or public relations. Every drop of skepticism or doubt is taken way too personally, with them often refusing to answer basic questions out of pride.

No reasonable person is “being run off” here due to one or a few mildly skeptical people. OP seems like they were trying very hard to have a little more of a sense of humor and to let it roll off their back lately, but how quickly they went back to their old ways.

I wish the dev good luck and hope they make some good plugins for the people, but this thread is just one more example why I won’t even download the demo. I can’t imagine how they handle actual difficult people or even regular customers who end up having issues or feature requests over time.

The dev got offended and said they won’t reveal their secrets when I asked how they modeled the synths, which seems relevant these days, but also since one of their plugins they described as “the most accurate ever”. I just wanted to know what goes into the process, since that is what would get me excited about this synth and want to support, but I got chewed out instead.

Compare that to this video.

I don’t expect every dev to be at this level, and it’s a whole different ballgame TUS play emulating the chips and not the synth, but still… I like devs who think about community and want to share more than hoard skills and information. Urs will tell you about all the hard work that goes into his synths, and The Usual Suspects are out there giving literal lectures on exactly how they emulated the chips. Instead this guy gets pissy over every little thing, and you’re blaming Jamcat? Nah, they do it with everyone.

You're in total denial of the abusive manner that you, and Tumface went in on him, even when your questions were answered. You still don't see it, and I pity you for that.

You guys are part of a huge generational problem of Ignorance, abusive behavior, and the inability to accept responsibility for your actions, and the reactions caused.

The dev you scared away, his plugins sound really good, really good. Now another talented dev has left KVR because of abuse he received. And you refuse to take ownership... Very Trumpian.
