i'm talking frezze a track and have the possibilitie to go back.
i don't have fls5
Yes.

But FL Studio 4 could also.

You can render any FX track, then disable the instruments pointing to it. Put the WAV file in the play-list, Done.

If you want to go back you just delete or deselect the WAV and turn the channels back on that were pointing to the rendered FX track.

FL Studio 5 is a little more automated about how you can do all this. 8)

Ok there is one way in which FL5 cannot compare to sequencers like Cubase SX.

Let's say I make a track in FL5 that I really like. I want to add 5 guitars to it, cut them up, move them around and process each slice I made seperately.

In order to just record the instrument in FL 4.5.2 I had to actually name the track I was recording FX1_Guitar1 or something. This can slow you down big time.

I don't see why they don't make the multi-track audio recording more like it is in Cubase SX.

Until they do that there is no way to proclaim that FL5 can save you money by not having to buy things like Cubase SX, because for the reason I mentioned... it can't.

I mean if I want to record my guitar into an Audio Track, don't you have to select an FX channel, set its input to your sound card input (ie:Delta 1/2), set it output to a filename FX1_guitar1_or_whatever.wav, then enable recording.... then record????

That's the way it seemed in 4.5.2, I was pretty sure they didn't change that because I don't remember reading about anything saying that they did.

What I would like (which is more like Cubase SX) would be just being able to create an Audio Track, select my sound card input... and hit 'record'.

Are you saying that I can do that in FL4/5?

I just did it here...3 mouse clicks and 3 seconds from thought to being ready to record.

There's auto-arm now (no need to tell it what the file is or where to put it).

It's just as easy as Cubase.

It appears to me you are just spouting off without actually having used the program. :?

Hahahhaa....

Actually I installed FL5 the same day it came out. I'm at work now and like to daydream about coming home to my studio.

See now I have a cool new feature to go home and checkout. I can't wait to go home and try it!!!

Good stuff.

My thoughts – I am very happy with the new FL5

I got the producer addition, so I can record audio.

My favoured part in FL by far right now is AutoClips – this has made automation of anything very easy and extremely accurate.

I still prefer Audition for finishing off Wave files that have been rendered in FL at 32 bit 16.8 – and for recording – as this is what I am use to.

The wave editor in Audition is excellent.

To the original Question ‘can you get by without audition n pro tools just by using FL Studio Producer?’

Of course you can!! :D

Its all about what you prefer at the end of the day – and how you get on with the various options in the various programs, quite alot is just under the hood. In FL I am still finding new and wonderful tools. (heck they just keep getting better too)

Best regards,

How do the automation clips work? I mean, if I create a clip for a particular knob, then draw in a curve and press play, I'm expecting to see the knob move with the curve, but during my testing, that seemed to have only happened a couple times out of a lot of tries. And if I record the tweaking of a knob, should I see an automation clip in the playlist that reflects that tweaking? That hasn't happened either. I read the instructions in the help and it seemed to point to automation clips being only for audio tracks although I could right click on any knob and choose to create an automation clip for it, it's just that the knob doesn't move with the curve I've drawn when I press play. I guess FL5 is dealing with automation clips in some completely different way than Sonar, Cubase, Logic etc.

You can preview the knob movement - plus in 'song mode' you will see the knob move for sure.

1) Yes...but you must be in SONG mode not pattern mode. AND the automation clip has to be beneath the pattern in which your knob+instrument live.

2) No, automation clips do not (yet) support manual recording of knob movements. Use the original system for that.

3) No. They are for anything that can be automated in FL.

So in the picture on the IL website the automation curve at the bottome of the screen (below the audio wave) is for a midi track? I couldn't figure out how to make it appear? ...Like the Loop record though!

More crock, you didn't answer the question. And after proceeding to say you don't have the luxury of explaining what makes Cubase pro and FL not (which I assume is time?) you proceed to fill the screen with more unsubstantiated opinion.
