didn't i ever mention the article i saw in the NY Times about the most effective ways to hold off Alzheimers

learn a new language or musical instrument

well music had a lot more appeal than taking french lessons. someone can tell if you can speak french or not, music's a lot more open to interpretation.

i think doing crossword puzzles was on the list as well, but my dad did crosswords every day of his life and it really didn't work out all that well

while i think Kandinsky(?) kept painting even after the onset of the disease and did some great work late in his life

Because I have to.

I can do nothing farkin' else.

It makes me feel less like a nobody.

And because I can.

And because I enjoy it.

perhaps a sad answer
but at a certain point in my life it was all i had left. I`m not so high self esteemed as i might come through and i need music as an outlet.

It was never a choice of me
i didn`t grab the music - the music grabbed me

down from the day i had to bring electric avenue back to the recordshop because my parents found it to be devils music. That is why i`m so frustrated about my mediocre achievements. I live for music - it`s all i lean on in life.

Making music and making a difference are my thoughts (well, there is," Will the Enterprise make it this time?!?!"). Most my free time is spent making music. I feel like I have to. I get the shakes when I'm not. I'm addicted to music.

I make music because I like to listen to what I make sometimes and I enjoy sharing it with others. I have no illusions that I am very good or that I will ever make money.

When I was a teenager I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan show and wanted to be a Beatle, a couple of years later I had a number of friends who were good musicians but I was not and I wanted to be them. When I finally learned how to play I no longer wanted to be someone else.
It is in my blood now and I find it makes me whole, music and art (any creative pursuit) fulfills my soul. 8)

yep!

okay.. my reasoning entails a life story :hihi:..

I started my attempts in the world of music in 1997.. Living in a place where (at the time) there were about 4 country music stations, 3 'urban' stations, and 2 rock stations.. well electronic forms of music were practically unheard of here..

I had (years before) caught a clip of moby and was really impressed.. it was one of those times when another door was opened and I saw that the world was a bit bigger than I thought. :)

however no one around the area was really retailing or playing any forms of electronic music here.. so I just pushed it aside.. I was REALLY big into rap music in the mid 90s.. I hated the lyrics (remember at the time gansta rap was being really popular) but loved the rhythms. I think thats where I get my feel for musical flow.... however rap as I said wasnt doing it for me in the content dept..

I got the internet in 1995-1996.. realized the world was A LOT bigger than I imagined musically.. found MODS and Demos and became hooked..

I did so accidentally. I was searching for audio libraries in my naive foray into demo programming :hihi: found www.hornet.org and a sound library that had a sample mod included. and then it goes from there..

so.. in short  .. its partially because I want music that I like.. and also just as hobby.. its hard for me to be passionate about something.. but I love to create and be creative, and the basic instant gratification (putting notes on a piano roll and hitting play) that comes with music production really does it for me. :hihi:

However, I still want to write a demo complete with my own music.. and will one day. :)

I also will (later on) push for releases.. I suppose thats my biggest goal musicially for the moment. I wouldnt mind making some money off of my music but its definately not a priority. and most definately would NOT want to ever been really popular... I'd rather be the guy behind the curtain, unseen, thats running the show. :)
