It's only over-hyped by members of this forum... and most of that hype was generated by the very people who are now criticizing it. Kinda funny, odd, and sad all at the same time.

It may be "over" hyped, but I tell you that for me at least, it's not a "nothing". It's not the holy grail, either, but it's more than nothing in terms of impacting my workflow.

No more 20 tracks full of different takes of the same guitar solo! :D

Tony: Clearly, Live4 will be the investment and dream sequencer of the year for many people. ;)

What bothers me is that it used to be an $80 program. Nice and easy for beginners, and a beginner price tag.
I paid 80euros for Tracktion, At that time 1$ was ~1Euro.

Today 199$ = 150Euros.

I’ll wait for T3

Because then T2 will be free

What a joke!!

Anyone want a T1 license so they can upgrade to T2 PM me with offers.

Not that anyone cares, but this is why I WILL upgrade to T2.

The new plugins have no effect on my decission because I've got my core set of plugins already. That being said, with T1... I get more done than any other sequencer I've ever tested regardless of T1 nuaces. The updates to the piano roll and midi controller mapping alone make what is a friendly environment even more inviting. I could care less about tit for tat features comparisons with other hosts... because ultimately, if I can't work with efficiency in those hosts.. then those extra features that seems so appealing become useless. Every hosts will have it's workarounds for the things you don't like, but ultimately you should stick with what embraces your creativity.

I have realized (after straying here and there)... Tracktion simply fits the way I work.. and thus I will pay for the improved features because spending that money elsewhere wouldn't make me any more productive.

I follow you ModulR !

Trackion 2 is well priced....
The new features are very nice...
- new midi editor / Midi learn / loop audio recording was all i needed....
And it's the only sequencer that allows me to finish songs so quickly...

Project5 2 is 429$, Kontakt 2 costs 580$ and 199$ for Tracktion 2 is expensive ???? :nutter:

:D

Having just read the full (?) disclosure of T2's features I feel disappointed. It does not offer much new for my particular needs. What's more, I get the impression that things that I thought T1 lacked but would be improved in time for that product have now been compiled into T2 (esp. MIDI editing).

The plugins are a joke, aren't they? (or did I miss sth there?)

OTOH when Orion Plat came out, the new version offered something new (ReWire, new plug-ins) _but_ the Pro version was still continued and actively supported. OPro ist still a good working place for me, only ever slightly missed Plat and even that ceased with the development of the low price/freeware scene.

If I will have to give away 100$ AGAIN for T2 just to get those features I had hoped (and not without reason I feel, because most ppl did) for in the course of the development of T1 the I will not.

But Cubase SL 3 is about $200. Can anyone enlight me why I should get T2 instead of SL ? (NO its not a cynical note, I just want to know how well they match up and I dont know very much about T(1/2) to do that correct)

T1 makes for a good introduction to understanding how Cubase works – if you come from a largely pattern based sequencer and need more power, particularly in MIDI – then Cubase is the one to get.

I use FL Studio Producer and Cubase. (audition for audio too)

Cubase hands down is way more powerful than T for sure – FL Studio is a Dream to use for automation.

T is a half bake in both categories – I know I used it, but I see why some would like it and I am sure if Sonar was cheaper most would head that way over T

$80 was cheap. $199 is still not bad. This is a host we are talking about. It is extremely capable in many of the main tasks a host is supposed to take care of, such as tracking audio and (most likely) midi editing.

It has features NO OTHER host has.

Still it costs NOTHING OR LITTLE MORE than a lot of VST instruments out there that are considered high quality at an affordable price (RMIV, z3ta+, Pro-53 and the list goes on). Some of the plugins are even included in T2.

It is still a lot less than a lot of software considered cheap and great value for money, such as Reason. Half the price actually.

I read somewhere that it won't be out before March. Surely, with a little discipline, everyone with a modest income and sensible budget will be able to put off the money you need to either upgrade or buy new. Cut down on the beer and don't eat out for two months.

If you still can't afford it or you can't justify the expense, there are other low cost alternatives for making music.

You can't satisfy everyone. Someone will always feel let down, and they will often be vocal about it. Just the way it is. Nothing wrong about it, just another form of feedback to the marketing guys.

I do however feel that this is a result of the sometimes unreasonably low prices for exceptionally high quality products. Consumers get spoiled. Spoiled children will cry if they don't get what they want.

Nu Audio Science wrote:Yep T1 was underpriced but lets not forget it was missing a lot of features and is still full of bugs ,That is a situation that was not too bad when Jules was around for updates and so on but now most people put ownership of T to Mackie and that isn't exceptable ,At the price point of $199 T has just lost at least five sales from members of my band that will now end up using some crap like Cubasis which really is a shame ,I just worry that the last really nice CHEAP sequencer has bit the dust ,Lets not forget that this is the first Mackie release and its already $119 dearer than it was and there is nothing stopping them charging for an upgrade to 2.5 and the raising the bar again at 3 ,Believe me this is business and Mackie will milk every last penny out of T before they throw it away in favour of the next big thing.

Right before anyone whines i love EXT and FL and own both but for your average band member they just wont cut it ,They both have too many features in a very unergonormic setup and nothing nothing has a workflow like T ,Infact i would even go as far as saying EXT and T1 blow away T2 when used together and is a lot cheaper aswell.
