I like to put a speaker in the bathroom, and a mike near or far from it depending on the depth I want. I then run each track through and record the sound. It's fabulous, and gets much better results. Why do you guys even both with hardware - it's so so false and unrealistic.

Honestly, with all your bad 'verbs, call can't go calling yourself 'prose'...

...

Ambience, and Classic Reverb for more closed in work. Oh and I'm quite partial to PSP Spring verb actually.

Just talking about the ones, I used in projects myself...

I liked the sounds of Ambience, but it eats up quite some cpu.

From UAD, I like Plate140 and Dreamverb. Although it seems that many UAD users give 4 points to Dreamverb and 5 or more points to Plate140, for me, those 2 are equally usefully.
I'd stay with Dreamverb, but miss the Plate140 for it's character.

I dont think you can fault the convo verbs to be fair. I mean, providing the IR's are good enough, these things can do a covincing job any verb or acoustic space... AMAZING!

I do appreciate what Ejo is saying: the expensive outboard reverbs are still significantly better than your aerage freeware release (obviously). But i think he under estimates the capabilities of a good talent. I'd wager that a good engineer could make a good selection of soft-verbs work in a pro environment. Infact i know so... because I am myself an extraordinary mix engineer

So for me it would have to be old Pristine Space, this thing really is the business.

I also like Princeton (paticularly on vocals).

Ultra funk for me but as far as free ones go I'm suprized no one mentioned Ariesverb... Quite uniqe.
I also play around with Glaceverb and SIR.
I agree that the last Reason reverb really sounded good the last time I plyed with the demo.

YOu guys make me want to try that princton thing now. Is it only good for small rooms and subtlies? I really don't have a good room verb besides SIR.

Post

Voxengo Pristine Space and Ultrafunk.
BTW it wouldn't matter much if I sounded 100 times better due to some ultrasuperhyperfancy reverb... it would be crap anyway! :hihi:

If ther was one reverb I had to choose again, which one would it be?

SIR.

Here is what one "Pro" had to say about SIR compared to his "Hardware" Lexicon units!

http://www.harmony-central.com/Software ... PC-01.html

Sounds/Sound Quality: 10
Totally blown away...Never heard anything software or hardware worth turning off my 4080L for before but this does it....So many types of reverb are possible by using different impulses...The PCM90 impulses from the links page on his site around incredible as stated and there are EMS, Lexicon 9060/4080L impulses which to my ears are indestinguishable from the original units. I have done a straight test to compare my PCM60 with the impulses and every mode was EXACTLY!!! the same between the SIR and the Lexicon. (I laughed out loud...) THis was very easy to do accurately because the PCM60 for those who don't know has push buttons for selecting reverb size and length and room or plate and high end/low end damp so every impulse could be called up and compared in realtime to the PCM60...awesome!!

Someguy here was saying "dont bother posting if you dont have a number cruching card" like UAD/TC Powercore?

And what about AnechoicRoomSimulator from Smartelectronix???? It's by far the most transparent, easy to use modeling plug ever created.

But Convoboy is great too, but much more complicated....as is AriesVerb and SIR and Glaceverb.

Spacemaster (reaktor)
Ambience
