I think it's a bit tame for what it's got in it. If everything were more bold, it would obliterate every other thought in my head, which is what I like this kind of music to do.

you need to get as much volume in your mix before finilazing. A compressor with lowish ratio on every track doesn't hurt. Add a nice compressor (best is something like Vintage Warmer ) and limiter on your main and/or a nice maximizer (the voxengo stuff is cheap and it kicks ass!!!)
Nah, thats crap mate, no-one uses that man compressors in the digital world these days, its just a pass on from old noisy desks.
Hmm, true..and false.

With yer sinthesiser you aren't going to get that much dynamic variation anyway, unless you're going bonkers with filters of course, but a bit of something like blockfish or VW will give yer bits (missus) a tad of bite. Whenever I do any (music, it's a waste of f**king time, I'm too busy keeping death of the roads and persecuting lorry drivers to have time for that foppish shite) sytnhy stuff, I still like to wang a bit of kompression on (there is an afro-caribbean food shop on roundhay road called 'lan-kompressor 2000'. Top moniker I thought, in the ghetto eh?) to 'big it up' as you were.

I trust this clears it all up?

Right Cypher; this tune, is it pop? Does it have some manner of a one note bassline? Is there 303 still for tea?

Best find out.

Ouuf, can't argue with that! Except that its got the formula for this sort of thing down to a tee; perhaps its now time to start f**king around a bit more with the overall sound of the mix; i.e do a bit of filtering/extreme 'kill switches' type of stuff just to throw the listeners out of the comfortable dance groove?

It's the biz when DJs do that sort of shite that I love, no reason why you can't do it on le originals.

That and the fact it just seemed to be taking off when it stopped, you could pile loads more shite on the there, make it facking huge........

nah, best leave wall o shite to me eh? :P

Well... it's got nice elements, but I can't really get into it as a whole. It may be the structure or some of the very dry sounds which put me off, I'm not sure...

I'll give it a go again tomorrow and pump it on my main system real loud and see if I can put my finger on it better.

Maybe I'm just in the wrong mood...

that'll be the mediocrity shining through. thanks for listening :)

well, I wasn't convinced the track was any good so I kept it short - I didn't want to put up a 10 min epic of total shite...anyway, I suspect a remix is on the horizon (not by me ).

nice one man :D

some nice subtle changes, good to hear ya back.

I would not be sad if the 4x4 kick was gone.

great stuff

Ok, revisited at high volume... worked a lot better! Maybe not the heights of originality but when the bass really starts pumping (I'm a basshead, I admit) and the beat gets more hectic it works really nicely. Don't know what kind of stuff you usually make, maybe it's mediocre in comparison, but it still works out nicely I think.

cheers guys

I like your music a lot Cypher. It's always tough and crisp stuff with good builds 8)
