PPS. Believe it or not, most of us in the business get along really well together and there's a great deal of mutual respect. There are occasional flare-ups, but it's never really all that serious.

well, I love Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Great movie IMO, and Depp is just hilarious. But then again, I haven't read the book.

Eric is right. Most of us in the business really do get along quite well together. There is a great deal of mutual respect, support, sometimes collaboration, and a comraderie not found in many other businesses. Eric has given me good advice and inspired me to do so much more. And other developers have helped me along the path and I try to encourage and help other developers and pass it forward. Sure there are a few that reflect badly upon the industry, but they are only a few and do not represent the vast majority.

When developers get together at trade shows, it's always a good time - but a WWWF sample developer brawl would make for good entertainment.

Aren't developers like most people. You have the "emulate white trash highschool bitch" developers, and you have the respectable developers. JUST Like Real Life.

Ofcourse, why people with the intelligence of a developer does the first is quite the mystery.

no cheating...no lying or unjustified censorship stays undiscovered....but some of the holy forum owners don't realize that. they think that they can brush unpleasant things under the carpet...but in the end they damage their own business. hey....your cute little forums are not the only communication channels...get that?

I've experienced several times censorship at northernsounds [not in the east west section]...interesting to hear that the same game is now played at soundsonline.
you know...as long you praise the product at their forums...everything is honey-sweet...but real criticism they don't tolerate. also if they pretend to do so. especially if they pretend to do so.

for getting real information just visit the independant forum section at kvr or cubase. if you're awake you get then the information you're searching for.

The thing you have to remember about this "war" is that often times the participants are the *users*, and not under orders from any general! They take it upon themselves to snipe at one another and stir the pot, spreading misinformation from board to board.

It's odd how sound library users are the ones that really get into this. There's no big animosity between, say, Rhino and z3ta+ users, is there?

So don't pin this one all on the developers!

I don't see SISO or VSL users behave like this,but i know quite a few Vanguard and z3ta user who would defend their synth/dev of choice beyond all reason.

Currently ist really nuts though.

-I don't see a general fighting attitude between library owners. might be perhaps....the garritan users.

they have a little sect-alike ivory-tower opinion about their "community" and their product.

-also it is a difference if you throw your money away for a little syn vsti or a several hundret bucks library. for that price you want it working. understand?

-and: an orchestral library has always a big reference: the real thing. you want it to sound like the real thing. and therefore you can compare different libraries and say...this one comes close...this one comes less close. sure a syn vsti has sometimes a hardware pendant...but in the end it is a syn which you can like..or not. comparisons are not that standardized...
