Bunnyboy>> ok, thank you. I wish we had more vegetarian/vegan food here. I guess I should move to a larger city.
pwdm>> I agree if the quality isn't higher(which it may(although rarely) be or you really like the company or whatever you're advertising for. A band fx.

I LOVE subway. One of the only fast food places I'll even eat at.Bunnyboy wrote:Seus Hawkins wrote:Bunnyboy>> Why Subway and Nike?
Subway cause they are everywhere (i think that there are 5 branches in leeds centre alone), are expensive with poor choice for vegetarians and are another example of fast food chains turning food into identikit blandness.
Nike cause they sell their shoes at a massive markup and use/did use child labour.
But also, when I did competetive athletics, every pair of Nike's that i bought/got bought (running shoes remember - trainers) fell to pieces after about 3-4 meets. not a great build quality
Nike use to have poor build quality, but they're great now. I run track currently, so i beat mine ruggedly (hard running 1/2 hour every moring and an hour or 2 in the afternoon), and they always hold up well. I know they are expensive, but they typically last me an entire year.

I also have had some very bad experiences with some companies, but find that some of their other products work very well.
I have had nothing but hatred for Dell for many years, but when my girlfriend needed a laptop with all the bells and whistles Dell was our only real choice. For $1,500 I got her the works, including the best LCD screen I've ever seen. Even when in direct sunlight the screen doesn't wash out and the colors are vibrant. I'd never buy a desktop from them, but we'll probably stick with Dell for laptops.
After dealing with a few Creative soundcards I didn't want to have any more dealings with them. When it came time to buy a 30 gig MP3 player I went to the store with my nicest set of head phones (Etymotic ER-4) and I'll be damned, the Creative sounded MUCH better than anything else there, especially the horrible I-Pod. Not to mention Creative owns E-MU, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my E-MU 1820M.
Sony may have made some bad products, but so has every large company. I worked in a video game store for a year, and had many people come in complaining that their Playstation 2 had broken. We definately got more returns on PS2s than any other system, but I think it had more to do with the customers. We would have people come in screaming that it's a "Japanese piece of shit" and that it broke in 2 weeks. Meanwhile I'd inspect the PS2 and it would usually be severely scratched, dented or cracked, opened (As in taken apart), covered in a yellow film of nicotine (Yes smokers, if it can do that to your electronics, imagine what it's doing to your lungs!), and in a few cases, was sticky and smelled like beer.
Meanwhile my PS2 is 4 years old, is of the most infamous series in the system's production, and it works like a charm. PS2s don't stand up to abuse well, but so long as you treat it like a little computer instead of some kind of Play-Skool children's toy then they will last a long time in most cases.
Just because a company makes one shitty product doesn't mean that they don't have anything decent. Keep an open mind, otherwise you could miss out on some good stuff.

Nestlé told Africans powder milk was much better for babies, knowing very well it was a lie...
Africans have also been told cigarettes are good for the lungs: buy Sportlife fags!

Hey, weren't American mothers also told that "baby formula" was healthier than breast milk? I seem to remember that being the case. I doubt that the companies making that stuff limited their sales pitch to just Africa.cptgone wrote:Nestlé told Africans powder milk was much better for babies, knowing very well it was a lie...
