Not necessarily because of how they reviewed me, just in general.
Voters are influenced?

For next month we can just all make anonymous entries and upload them to a secret FTP server. No vocals allowed, no using trademark techniques, no gossip thread with people hinting to which entry was theirs.
Maybe IPs could be traced and stuff, but every system has it's weakness.
This could even be made into an action thriller of some kind. With unnumbered bank boxes, secret meetings, CD-R exchanges, payoffs, guns, sexy ladies with STM's, etc.

Yeah. I don't intend to financially support someone I don't like.vurt wrote:3*s wrote:I would never vote for someone who makes a good track but is a complete ass.

i like the idea of anonymous entries, just for one month, maybe. it could be a very cool experiment.

I agree... I think it would work best if people tried to do something a bit different to what they usually do, to reduce the chance of identification.Wopelka wrote:i like the idea of anonymous entries, just for one month, maybe. it could be a very cool experiment.

would be nigh impossible tho unless kvr offered a bit of web space and the ability to ftp to it
plus when people vote how would we actually know who won if it was completely anonymous,of that track was mine no it was mine f**k off you two it was mine

could be fun watchin that gossip thread tho
anonimity leading to people speaking more freely ie song number 45 i wouldnt play to a dieing dog you f**ker why did you make me listen now i have to shower in acid and scrub my nads with a brillo pad just to take my mind of the abysmal diorhea that was your track
remain anonymous after someone says that about your track hahaha!

the way i see it, these are songwriting competitions...so i vote for the songs i like the best.
production:
the production could be absolutely flawless, but if the song doesnt interest me, it doesnt get my vote. however, production can come into play when im trying to judge between two songs that move me equally and i need something to act as the tie breaker.
would i not vote for a really good song because of poor production? i suppose its possible, but it would have to sound so damn awfull/painfull that it kills the song. if production is rough, or just not to my liking, i wont hold it against a good song. there have actually been times where i've tweaked the eq on my mixer to make a shrill mix easier on me, just so i can best judge the track on its songwritting merits.
so generally speaking, good production can help, but it wont save, and bad production can hinder, but probably wont kill.
complete compostions:
even though there is a 2 minute time limit, i prefer to hear complete compositions. if a song feels like its an excerpt from something longer, or feels like a rough jam/practice session, then i wont rank it as high as i would have otherwise...even if i like whats there...because my listening experiance feels incomplete and therefore im left dissatisfied. it wont keep a song off my top 10, but it probably wont score as high as it could have.
reviews of my stuff:
not everyone likes the same songs, and i dont expect everyone to like mine. its just personal preference. also, i know that there is always plenty of room for improvement in my compositions and production. as a result, i expect to recieve some constructive criticism and i welcome it. if people dont tell me where i need to try to improve, i may not get any better.
so if i get a poor review and/or no votes from someone, but they write a killer track, they'll still get my vote. again, its a song competition...not a personality or butt kissing competition.
the in-crowd:
if there is one, i've never felt shunned by it. i've only entered a few comps, only posted a few non-comp songs, and i dont spend much time discussing tracks in the cafe...but never have i felt like i was being ostricized or being given low scores because im not part of some inner circle. in fact, its quite the contrary. i feel i've been welcomed and encourraged.
so am i, as a voter, influenced in my decisions? yes...im influenced by the songs themselves.

seriously, i think it's possible. we could PM pHz (or another mod) to let him know what's our 'anonymous' identity, and yes we need a common server.
