Maybe this thread needs to get to 50 pages before Andy will release it?

Well in that case I hope it's released closer to your birthday than mine since mine is on March 24th.

Lots og hype about this plug-in on quite a few forums. Can't wait to try it out and if it's half as good as the hype I'll be picking it up.

You've pretty much nailed itmystran wrote:As for range, you have to ask andy or someone with a beta for that, but I can make a guess: in a real hardware compressors, once the input level has gone far enough above the threshold the gain reduction can get capped because of limited dynamic range (as in signals clip internally or whatever). So I'd guess it affects either the maximum level above threshold after which no further compression happens, or the maximum gain reduction. Since the label on the screenshot is "-40" with half-range, I'd guess it's the maximum gain reduction.Jay-Producer wrote:Can someone clarify to me what 'makeup' and 'range' are? ive never came across them on compressors ive used in the past.
Thanks.

Very close now, here is the latest screenshot of The Glue in action:

Note the led below the VU lighting up as some peak clip is happening, the motion blur on the needle to match really closely what a physical needle looks like, mouse over units for those things that aren't notched, and the A/B preset bar along the top. The little cytomic logo on the top right is a power button to completely bypass the effect which is useful when doing A / B / Bypass comparisons.

Really nice work and, first of all, an awesome sound (listened to audio demos)...
Just an opinion, why don't put the bypass on the left near the A/B button? That would make a quicker A/B/BYPASS comparison...

I did have the power button next to the A/B button in previous designs but I felt for the little bit of extra mouse travel it was way less cluttered the way it is. I spent quite a while on the top bar design, although it looks simple it's very functional. I kept the power button away from the A/B button to really make it obvious spatially what you are doing, top right is on/off, top left is A/B. It keeps your choices down and focusses what you are doing and forces you not to be too fiddly with your comparisons and hopefully get on with making music.fvr wrote:Really nice work and, first of all, an awesome sound (heard some audio demos)...

This is the same reason I only have a single led for output metering, and no input meter. The VU / Threshold will let you know your input level, and the led lets you know when you are close to full scale on the output - in the end that's all you really need to get on with it, and it's way less visual / mind clutter on things, in the end, really don't matter that much. If you want to be anal, then load up a kick ass all bells and whistles meter plugin and analyse your bits for all their worth!
