Really great video, I'm tempted to pick up Trilian...
With your little (um cough ) setup should be fine. I know on my system it's really just too ram happy so I have to be really careful with the electric stuff......the acoustic stuff (newer) I can't even use that in lite mode with 4 gigs/vista (yeah I know, you got mac......)

I only have 5 GB RAM, thinking of upgrading to 8.. or 12.

Er, it's been 2 years plus since I've had a mac, are they different than windows with 32 bits addressing more ram?

Not really, Logic can address 4GB.. unless you're using the ESX24 sampler, but it would be nice to have the breathing room with multitasking.

Well I'm confused!

If ram is used (like if you had 8gb) under osx without being 64 bit, I'd reconsider one of those again.

Oh the RAM is definitely used, but the limit for each program is generally 4GB.

In terms of better acoustic basses on the market.....

I picked Larry Seyers Acoustic Bass and am very impressed.

I may pick up the slightly modified version "POWERbass Upright"

New less 'Growl' patches

I'm thinking of Trilian but I only use Acoustic Bass for Jazz and am not sure if almost $300.00 is worth it.

sounds cool but its hard to compare from a short mp3 demo.
The sampleset is obviously a lot smaller than Trilians-550 mb vs over 2 GB for a single bass plus the fact that you get 4 different acoustic basses in Trilian that are close to 5 GB total.
In the end 300$ vs 100$ for a collection of instruments that is about 70 times bigger in size sounds like a bargain.

Cant find any info about the number of round robins in the LS bass.
I find them indispensable for repeated notes.
Its also nice to have a variety of acoustic basses at my disposal and even have the ability to mix and match. Like combining the attack of the John Patitucci bass with the sustain of the Trilogy acoustic.
And bTW the fretless bassses in Trilian are great for jazz too and make some nice hybrid electroacoustic combos.

OSX is 64 bit and can give each 32 bit app a memory space of 4 GB whereas a 32 bit OS can only acss a total of 4 GB for all apps.
Thats why you can access more RAM in OSX by running something like VE-Pro alongside with Logic. Logic gets 4 GB and VE-Pro gets another 4 GB.
Ultimately a true 64 bit environment where the OS and the apps both are 64 bit is the most elegant solution but i wont hold my breath to wait for that to happen with Logic.
The current workaround with VE-Pro does the job.
