That brings up a thought......should "we" have been more thought out in the first place? Seriously, GS and KVR are not your average user bases. Despite some minor flaws, it's mostly passionate people with insight into where a direction is going.

Case in point, there is an "amp sim" company that OBVIOUSLY recognized some of the downpoints of their original beta and corrected MANY of the issues people were complaining about. f**k all if I knew about it :? I decided to give the newest release a retry and they obviously listened....but didn't really advertise that.

That makes no sense to me. If a site has a certain vibe or feedback, it makes sense to acknowledge and address to some degree.

In this case, for whatever reason, it was left "out" of the loop. Now, we've got die-hard "fans" who are perplexed over the direction of the product.

Question: Despite some negativity, aren't kvr and GS kinda on the "pulse" of what is going on for a company like izotope? And another question, why isn't someone like Simon involved considering the level of expertise?

I just baffle. Mostly I've stayed out of this thread of late, but when I see Simon stating certain things, I really am troubled by the direction they are taking.

You raise a good point, hibidy. We're a weird bunch here at KVR and GS. And yet for a lot of things, I think our passionate voices drives a significant 'word of mouth' factor among normal users, too.

Despite being one of the most disappointed users here, I don't think there's any point in prolonging the negativity. Izotope has heard our voices, it remains to be seen what is addressed.

I'm pretty confident a v1 patch conversion solution is forthcoming. If Izotope *does* address the spectral features in 2015, you're going to see a whole LOT of users singing the virtues of Iris 2.

We're their best marketers and I don't think they underestimate that. Happy users + happy Simon = happy Izotope. :)

LOL - tbh, I am not particularly enjoying my role in all of this, in fact I felt like an idiot doing their homework for them in public, analyzing all the conversion bugs and such, writing emotional things I wouldn't have written if I wouldn't be so over-passionate for my work and for my business, but the water which has been poured into the whine can not be extracted again...so let's move on and see what Brad brings to the table.

That's a great play on words, intentional or not! :D

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

It's a modified quote from Bertolt Brecht

So iZotope has just sent out email damage control about a forthcoming iris 2.01 claiming "This update will map parameter settings from Iris 1 to the new systems in Iris 2 as closely as possible." Looking forward to the update.

I'm happy for the notification, If they can deliver, I'd imagine trying to fix something like this is not for the faint of heart..

waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

perhaps it's all planned- we'll sell an overpriced update that a. doesn't make much of an improvement t the program and b. breaks parts of the program, then when a lot of users complain we will rush to the rescue and fix what we broke thereby looking good for responding to our customer while item a goes unnoticed. if so it is quite devious. i only say this because my issues with this update are as much issue a as b. i haven't bought any soundsets and haven't made too many patches ( i use Iris for sound designs not as a playable instrument, i render files and use them in other programs). nothing they are addressing has to do with issue a. basically i can pay a whole lotta money for almost nothing of much use to me. yeah i know - more modulation, big deal. i've got modulation on top of modulation everywhere i look. i bought Iris for it's spectral tweakery not for it's modulation. so, even if the backwards compatibility gets fixed i see it as three fails in a row, expensive upgrades for almost nothing. i didn't buy the upgrade to Rx, i didn't buy the upgrade (cough) to Ozone, and i'm not buying the upgrade to Iris (unless they actually add some capabilities to the spectral engine.) this is a bummer, i really like all my Izotope stuff, a lot. there goes another brilliant, innovative company taken over by the bean counters...

and ps, i also was a fan of Spectron which disappeared without a trace so i have no reason to think they would support Iris 1 indefinitely.

I hope iZotope configures the Iris 2 browser to easily access the Iris 1 patches without having to do a lot of file manipulation, moving, copying and whatnot.

So what is up with Iris 2? All the chatter seems to have died down.

We are all sitting quietly waiting for Brad to tell us that Santa will be coming at xmas after all.

yep, still waiting on them to fix it. :/
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Whenever I open Iris 2 I become instantly allergic.

Sounds like a case of iZotopitis?

No, their other apps are fine and don't cause that, it's more likely a serious case of venous Iris2-oedema.
