Nothing to wait here. My house is full of analog stuff including modular synths from then and now. But as I am a grown up I can appreciate hardware as well as software without the need of glorifying one over the other.

Anyways. Virtual and hardware synths are both as great, iLol sucks (yes I wrote it "wrong". that piece of poo doesn't deserve to be written correctly).

I'm pretty sure I'm older than you But when you grow up kid, you'll find some nasty real life modules to be quite attractive compared to virtual ones

Otherwise, iLok is still a pain in the ass sometimes, like when you need to update the licenser just to demo something.

It is getting better, so hopefully in the future they'll have an ever better system.

While I caved in long ago to their protection methods... some bitching might just be a healthy thing for an improved product.

Absolut right, damaged and bad build drives, drives that work one day but not tomorrow, perhaps two days later, drives that do not work together with other drives from other companies, or their sever is not available, shure the fault of the user or buyer.

You know, it's really annoying that every single time a plugin is released which uses ilok, the conversation has to devolve into a mudfest about how ilok sucks, often from people who don't even use the current version of ilok, but still somehow know that it sucks. We don't need to have this debate over and over again in every single product discussion thread. Don't like ilok? Great, just move along! Can we please just focus on the product and not the protection?

Yup, as soon as I saved up and bought a Prophet 6 I sold my Diva license.

Software synths are nice and especially in the context of a traditionally digital form of synthesis or, for me, a modular style where workflow becomes an issue, preferable, but once you actually sit and play a good analog polyphonic synth you'll clearly hear the shortcomings of Diva. I'm done trying to mimic an analog with software. Give me Zebra over Diva any day.

Also, I can't believe they delayed their product so long and still didn't deliver a stable build. They must be having a hard time. Shame. They used to develop for Sonic Core Scope. I wish they still did. I'd totally buy add on modules for my Scope 4 modular.

I've tried. It sucks. There are lots of stuff that I want and I really really hope, that iLol becomes better someday that I can get my tickling balls all over that stuff.

Wasn't that that.. Well you had to buy a dsp box and you had virtual modular synth in it? Never had my hands on it but damn it sounds interesting. If I remember right, Faxi Nadu uses it.

This argument is a funny one. You never owned a iLok license, right? You can transfer any iLok license in minutes around the world especially the Softube ones as these don't need any additional serial number transfers.
The luck (and patience) must be on your side with shipping expensive hardware from one continent to another.

Possible that its also a users fault that there is no usefull preset handling in the modular?

The question is what is the product?
For me the product is everything you get or even what you have to handle when you buy it.
So in this case the iLol is part of it. So it has to be to talk about it every time a new product uses it?

That's the one. Runs on (old) Scope Pulsar PCI cards or the XITE-1/1D PCIe boxes that replaced them. They're up to v4 of their Modular system and I extended its capabilities with Flexor from Adern.

It's a pretty expensive way to go if you go with an XITE model. I don't think the 1D which sold for $2500 is in production any more so I went with the 1, which comes with 18 sharc DSPs. That'll set you back $3500, but it's also a great audio interface and comes with all the Creamware emulations that have been updated to run better on the new hardware. They're in the neighborhood of Diva in terms of sound quality. Monark beats Minimax by a bit but it's polyphonic and has some other enhancements that Monark does not.

I wouldn't recommend buying it for those, though. They're fine, but the truth is that you'll be better off using native plug ins. The John Bowen plug ins are kind of cool but they really don't run well on the new XITE boxes. However, the modular system is where things really take off. Other than the sheer ugliness of the UI (it really needs a facelift), the scope of it (see what I did there? ) is phenomenal. I bought it to replace a Prophet 12/KingKORG set up and I couldn't be happier.

There are quite a few people that love iLok (yes they do exist but are not as vocal).

There are probably more that couldn't care less.

There are quite a few that do use (and have used iLok) and have actual gripes about using iLok (but do so grudgingly).

And yes... there are some that have no clue about what they're talking about.

Want to make it go away? Ignore the iLok topic or don't try to lump all complaints into that last category (that's how we get stuck on that endless loop). Some complaints are valid.

Damn.. Feels like I should start harrassing my local instrument store keeper to get one in his store. Then maybe I could try it and if I like it, we could maybe make a nice partial payment deal

I love ilok you're right ! I have a USB hub , every steinberg key / ilok and other drive to bck my work .
I love the fact that i don't have to re autorise all the plugin after format my HD.
