:P

did you check out the Ormsby/facebook link in the earlier post? I think the ormsby gtr range starts at about 1100 usd for the multiscales 6,7,8 string versions. I think there's some US dealers looking at picking up these guitars, Facebook page members get direct input into the styles/finishes etc.

Here's the multiscale bass that's just about to open up for orders. Image

Ormsby is so far out of the realm of reality for me to purchase I don't think about them much. But the ones I've seen from sevenstring are totally off the hook gorgeous.

umm. I've done it again. this is getting embarrassing. I scored a 20th anniversary mint condition gibson Nighthawk and a collector grade 1998 Parker Fly Deluxe from eBay. both guitars come with all of the usual case candy, manuals and tools etc. The previous owner of the Parker had it as part of his art collection...Image

Too much win for me!

What sort of person does this to other guitarists? Okay, I don't even want any of those guitars so, whatever!

The guitar-to-bass content ratio is just way too lopsided (hehe), so here's the Musicman Sterling I just picked up in the relatively rare Burnt Apple finish (seller's photo). Listening to various tracks I've recorded over the last 3 years or so, it became apparent that I was getting a tighter bass sound that spoke through the mix with more clarity when I had a Sterling and a Bongo around, so I figured it was time to get some MM back in the toolbox. (I really tried to do the P-Bass type tones with a G&L LB-100 and an Ibanez SR650 during the last few months, but that just doesn't seem to work for the kind of playing I do and the kind of stuff I record.)

Magical things they are. Especially the older made in PA ones like this. The wheel to control the block is easily accessible. You can turn it into a non-trem. down only or floating on the fly. Unlike later generations these have a tone control for the piezo.

Those few of us who have P44's have the closest approximation of tone as the original deluxe versions. I guess Washburn thought they were giving away the store in the early "p" versions which is why they stopped producing them.

How do the necks hold up on them?

I'm no expert, but they seem good. As of now, there haven't been any problems with the necks. I'll have to 'log' more 'flight time' with them and see where things go.
