XILS 3 LE

Post

Intro price period is over.

Thanks to all the people here in KVR who got the Xils 3 LE v2, a fabulous modular synthesizer.

As a side note, I take this opportunity to inform that I will not be able to represent Xils-lab anymore on forums etc. But you can still join Xils-Lab at any time thru the contact us utility. Or thru the Xils-Lab forum.

Really dumb question here: Looking at a bass patch in XILS LE V2, I can't figure out how to turn off what I know as legato mode, where playing a note before releasing the previous one doesn't retrigger envelopes. Patch I'm checking out is Bass > K.L. Bass 02. I would have thought that would be something like Legato mode, but the Legato, Portamento, and Glissando switches are all set to Off in the section in the lower right.

I'm sure I'm missing something silly, brand new to XILS 3, but what is it?

Thanks all.

I think what you're talking about is to do with the Priority switch, which is next to the Portamento switch, and the KeyB Mode (Circular Poly, Reset Poly, Mono, Uni2, Uni4, Uni6), which is next to the pitch bend and mod wheels.

It happens with the mono and unison modes

Thanks, I'll check that out this evening when I'm home from work. Hate to say it, but it seems like I might just have to, oh no, RTM maybe?

It might be worth checking also the polyphony. And yes reading the manual can be worth it, especially for a synthesizer that can do so much things. There are also tutorials on xils-lab youtube channels and/or site ( for example there's one about the sequencer )

And also CM made some good tutos in their last issue, and they also released a CM version of the Xils 3 LE V2 in their last issue ( N° 211 ).

All details can be found here ( how to get it etc etc ) :

I got an email with the sale on the no-dongle version, which also said there would be a separate email with an upgrade offer for people who bought the LE version. I did get LE during the promo, but i didn't get that upgrade offer.

Did anyone else get it? Is it still planned?

I didn't get the email but my user account on Xils now contains coupons of €34 for Xils 3 and Xils 4. These appear to work with the discounted prices.

I am trying to talk myself out of upgrading to Xils 4. Trying.

Check your account?

FYI the digital Computer Music edition with Xils and tutorials is free :)

I have those coupons too, but they've been there since I bought LE, or at least since the first time I looked, which I think was right away.

I thought that was the normal upgrade price, not an additional discount for the no-dongle version release, but maybe not. That's why I'm asking here, to get real info if possible.

Maybe I should write them directly.

I doubt if you will see more of a discount than that. The no-dongle email they sent gives these prices:

XILS 3 for only 109€ instead of 149€ (around $138 instead of $188)
XILS 4 & XILS 3 for only 139€ instead of 179€ (around $176 instead of $226)

With the coupon:

XILS 3: €75
XILS 3+4: €105

(plus the €4 we paid for LE).

As I said, I would be pretty surprised to see a better deal than that, but here's hoping :D

The recent newsletter is confusing. The implication is there will be an additional discount for Xils 3 LE owners

Please note that all LE version owners will receive a specific newsletter with the promotional prices to upgrade from the LE version to the full XILS 3 and XILS 4 synthesizers

I too plan on buying the full XILS 3 and XILS 4 now that it is available with a soft iLok. It would be helpful if someone from Xils Labs would take the time to provide some clarity WRT their current prices.

Afaik, LE owners will receive a specific newsletter very soon, wich contains the details about the upgrade path, prices, how to upgrade, and also additional infos about the differences between the LE version and the Xils 4 and Xils 3, that would have probably been annoying for regular readers of the newsletter.

Besides that, the discount will be exactly the same to upgrade, minus the price of the LE. So, buying the LE now, then upgrading, or buying directly Xils 3 or Xils 4 now, will lead to the same global discounted price.

I think not. I have LE and installing the CM version (to follow their tutorial) wiped out the LE version, necessitating a reinstall.

I suspect the same thing would happen with the full XILS 3. XILS 4 should be OK though.
