Bought SMO yesterday as a crossgrade offer and simply love it.
Sounds just as good as SM2 (never was the problem for me), but looks amazingly simple and even beautiful.
Really inspiring, both looks and sounds. Music almost writes itself )
I'm so glad I skipped the New Year sale of Sylenth, I spent less for SM2 and SMO combined than discounted price of Sylenth was.
SMO GUI can't be resized but it looks similarly OK on 1280x800 MBP 2011 and on 1920x1200. Still, would be a nice addition.
Looking forward to further development (automatable ENV->Filter knob).
I suspect there will be quite the following and maybe even 3rd party soundbanks.
Spending $29 for a software never felt so satisfying. Good that company value customer loyalty.
Keep it up, KV331!

Almost passed on this one - already have SM2 - but someone wrote in the bargains thread that the crossgrade deal was only €19 with a credit card - he forgot to mention that was the academic price - this peaked my interest so GAS took over and I went for it for the normal crossgrade price of €29. Man! This thing is really nice with very good presets. Very cool of the Synthmaster people for taking care of existing customers in this way. Kudos

Huge respect to all insane work that developers do over their synths but personally i am deeply disappointed how sound designer's work is totally underestimated and put in the corner of hobbyists - 29 for such synth is really cool price but if no experienced sound designer ever do original quality preset for it how many songs will be made with this or other synth - don't get me wrong but after 3 years i waste to learn how to make really usable for users presets the amount of money i made from it is in sector 'Are u stupid to do this'.Sorry not trying to underestimate developers work or to discourage newbies just feel like we can have better conditions if developers let it - not to make millions but at least something that can pay electricity and internet bills

Without sounding condescending (seriously, I'm not native English speaker), maybe you want to work on your marketing skills also. Let's say that with your current experience you can synthesize any sound you hear in 10 minutes - so you're an excellent sound designer: you are not the only one. There are others like you. Until you put your self-marketing in order, they will bite out of your work. Nexus, Vengeance presets packs are more expensive, why not trying working with them? Or UVI? If you're as good as you think you are, they'll accept you. If not, you may indeed be wasted 3 years.VilianTroy wrote:after 3 years i waste to learn how to make really usable for users presets the amount of money i made from it is in sector 'Are u stupid to do this'

'maybe you want to work on your marketing skills also' -NO i don't - that's why i stop to sell anything - how good i am you can ask users which write to say thanks i don't make them do that , but the fact that many people still think Firebird for joke isn't my fall i guess ,but the guys that work with it before me - only thing i want was to sell and to invest all money into new gear but it seem it's not gonna happen this way.I don't make money from you ,they don't make from me.Probably i am wrong and entire music 'industry' already is a big joke:)Nice final of a sentence hahahha

The music "Business/ Industry" is what it is a BUSINESS.. pretty much like any business...VilianTroy wrote:Probably i am wrong and entire music 'industry' already is a big joke:)Nice final of a sentence hahahha
there are always triers.. and there are always succeeders .. some make it some don't.
As to your first post, I am not sure I really understand it.
I rather think that KV333 have professional sound designers making presets
BTW.. only 3 years learning to design sound... my 40 years have really been wasted then, just don't tell me... I like my stupidity...

Congrats on the new synth.
At this pricepoint it's a no brainer.
Workflow is fast, sound and presets are great.

Try redownloading using a different browser. I was getting a similar issue when using Chrome to download synthmaster recently. I used internet explorer instead and didn't get this issue. Hope this helps.GreyLion wrote:So... Anybody besides me getting an invalid archive error when trying to open the SM1 zip file after downloading?
The download of 'synthmasteronewindows64setup.zip' apparently completes successfully and shows file size as 42,278,500 bytes.
I'm on Win7x64, and neither Explorer nor 7Zip will open it. Do I need to load something more exotic, like WinRAR?
Ps: I have been using synthmaster for years and I really love this new "little brother" version. What a great sound and intuitive interface, and it comes with a lot of great sounding presets to top it off...

Out of respect for the product and the developer, shouldn't we keep your impressions of the market place, your misguided fears about low numbers of songs being written by hobbyists using this great, easy programmable synth and how you ultimately failed as a sound designer to another thread.

[quote="Aliens"]Out of respect for the product and the developer - how exactly i was disrespectful, just express my disappointment of music market reality.I doubt other designers to sell a lot more...whatever now i am a failure as sound designer also hahahha
:):)Probably we can make a sound design competition in real time me and you ...and the winner win...nothing hahahaha

Indeed, stay classy. Let the attention seekers play elsewhere.zzz00m wrote:

SM1 is one of those synths where you can immediately get stuck in and get instant results, yet there's enough under the hood to broaden almost everyone's horizons to come up with unexpected sounds.
I've been programming for well over 30 years and I'm still finding little nuggets.

Pheeleep -- Thanks for the suggestion! I've tried downloading in Chrome, IE, and Firefox. All fail. Firefox gets to the very end and gives a failure message, the others don't. The zips just won't pass CRC check. It's almost as if the site wants something from me at the very end, to validate the download, integrate my key, maybe give it a unique signature. I wonder if the issue is because it's an academic version. Maybe I should have gotten a different link from them. I'll happily pay the extra $10 if that's what it takes.
This is really frustrating. I've sent in two tickets, still no response of any kind. That's why I've posted here, in hopes of getting some insight from colleagues. I guess they're buried, with the rollout.
Oh, well.
