Waldorf MicroWave as a plugin?

I had a rack Attack for a brief while way back. My friend still has it. All windows systems still run x86 code just fine. I don't follow Waldorf's development closely, but attack is something I still love. It , Microtonic and ephemere are a fantastic collection of drum sounds. I still have a working Attack installer and license, but it seems buggy in newer DAWs. If it was stable I'd happily use it even with its wonky GUI, but I can't really hang with random crashes these days.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Yeah there was some 'odd' history with the plugin heh. I still have my retail box for Attack on the shelf downstairs (next to 10 years of Logic Platinum/Pro boxes, Cubase VST24, etc).
When OS X dropped, I remember a lack of Audio Unit format, which at the time was blamed on something to do with Apple. They were adamant it was never coming heh. I was shocked there was an update later that moved them from PPC to x86, and an AU finally came out, but that was about the last time anything 'big' happened with it. Dpole got updated, and an entire new GUI, PPG Wave had some updates here and there, but poor Attack just kind of fell by the wayside. Id still love to get the hardware, but to be honest most of the time I used the default 909 kit in it, I'd likely just buy a Behringer RD-9 instead now.

Yeah, the original Wave and the Microwave each have a unique tonal character. If the plugins are effective at emulating the originals, then they should sound different.beely wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:19 am Well, the Microwave is a different product than the PPG Wave.

Where is located that Mutator feature? Can't find it in the latest update....Digivolt wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 9:55 amCurious how people are finding the new Mutator function, I've been enjoying the randomise function on the Gforce Halogen synth so I know I like randomisers but they need to make musical patches and not just random noise (some noise is okay) which Halogen nails quite wellUntil 22 July, the legendary Microwave 1 Plug-in is available at a special reduced price! It now comes with a new patch randomizer feature called Mutator, and () with a new optional green skin,
*Edit: found it, under the Menu tab.
It's pretty cool. The key is to use pretty a low amount of mutation, to keep things under control or more ''musical'' as some people would call it. With extreme settings, it gets very experimental and out of hands, which I kinda like personally. You have the choice of mutation you want to apply

It is a lot of fun either way. Great addition to an already excellent plugin.

yeah the mutator is really great in use, different levels and destinations you can randomize.
Just wished it had a dedicated button on the UI to select the mutator page instead of hiding it away in the menu.

The randomizer has always been one of my favorite Waldorf features. The patch names always make me laugh heh. Had to watch it on the Micro Q though, that's the only one I've used it on and actually made patches that crashed/locked up the hardware.

The Microwave 1 VST hits a nice sweet spot in-between a plugin and what you would expect from a decidedly hardware MFG making a plugin. It's an intuitive and great sounding plugin that's easy on the CPU and I absolutely adore the mean green skin!

Yes, the previous version was 1.2.0, released a month ago and the latest available in their download section is 1.2.1. The plugin's "About" screen shows it was compiled on the 7th of August. Might be a minor patch release with one or more bugfixes.

There was no changelog for 1.2.1, probably some minor bugfixes.
