Just thought I've give a shout at to Bjulin. I was impressed with your track and thought it certain you would place in top five. Hope to hear more from you. Cheers

Thanks to all who taked part in the challenge and to all who voted.
Congratulations to the winners! Jasinsky, your first place is well-deserved. It is interesting what sound you'll squeeze out of Bazille. :)

happy with my step sequencers
profoundly dyslexic
music looks like ants ;)

is impossible without strict rules
which is boring

Hi all,

First let me say a very big THANK YOU for all the points and more important, for all those wonderfull and overwhelmingly comments I got from all of you. Those are more valuable than all the prizes we can get here (even though the prizes are nice and very wellcome :D ).

Second, a big CONGARTULATION to Jasinski. I allways admire your creativity and craftsmanship. You are allways using the synths in a different way, showing the other side of the sound spectrum. This often proofes the huge potential of the instruments.

And also my biggest congrats to GeorgZ (WOW, what a start into OSC!), The Present and z.prime! It was a close race. All points are very close to eachother, which shows, that the quality of so many tracks was above average.

My prize: On one hand, I have enough synths! But on the other hand, Diversion looks so interessting
So I will take it.

Cheers Photonic. I've said it before and I'll say it again, thanks to Brian for putting up a cracker of a comp every month, cheers to everyone who commented and voted and massive congrats to Jasinski and Photonic, you guys really slammed it.

As for my prize, I have realized I have more than enough synths and stuff to last me a lifetime, so in light of that, I'll pass on a prize ;) Congrats again lads, and on that bombshell...

PS: Photonic, don't forget to pick up the [free] "Collaboration" soundbank for Diversion (I made a few patches for it): http://dmitrysches.com/collaboration It's a pretty neat synth!

PPS: I assume that means #6 is now also in the prizes right? :tu:

Yeah, I'm really out of touch with today's sound. LOL
So how many points did you give the winning track that happened to be your least favorite track?
The thing is, it might not be music I listen to when I'm listening to music on my mp3 player or when I'm driving in my car, but I felt it was impossible to give less than 5 points because it showed an insane amount of producing and sound design skills, and it also was an amazingly good showcase for HIVE as a synthesizer.

I think it's a shame when people just vote purely based on the kind of music they like and totally ignore all the other aspects like producing skills and sound design. I have no problem recognizing great tracks, even when it's not entirely my kind of music, so to speak.
Music... life would be boring without it.

And then it was my turn :)

Can I get just a little more time to make my mind up? I contacted the guys from UVI with some questions regarding the installation procedure of Mello because i don't want my DAW to be connected to the internet.

@bjporter, please force my hand if you think it is taking too long :)

Edit: only one of us could take a plugin from u-he, isn't it?

I believe that's correct. One prize per err... donator (that's a real word, right?).

tbh... that was my wish, too! At first, I was a bit disappointed - but those places are so close to each other. It´s ok! Anyway... THANK YOU!! :D

I´ve had a lot of fun and I´m taking my hat off jasinski! Well done, mate... you know, you´ve got a great taste and nice skills! Keep it going! :tu:

Also Photonic: Really great work with the sounds and composition! You really improved, mate! Congratulations

George knows what he´s doing... sound/mix is awesome!!!

ThePresent, you just killed it with your composition and those snare/claps at the beginning  haha... no, really... it was a enjoyable, funny, nice track!

z.Prime... what can I say? Really great mix, too... you too improved so much over the last one/two years! Just keep it going, man! :phones:

Irion: You know, I like your style, mate! I would be happy to hear a complete B.E.C. Album... don´t give up that idea!! :hyper: :tu:

H-man... your sounddesign and diversity in the composition/arrangement is awesome!! I have to check you soundcloud account. I bet there are some really nice gems (well, at least, I hope so)

DocJon, my 80ies style king!! Such a great Mr Bond style composition... really, I didn´t miss anything in your track... enjoyed it a lot!

Solidtrax... you guys know I love your trance-groove-style. Just fits my taste. (and technically you´re doing a great job, too!) :tu:

Have to stop here: I´m at work...

Brian, thanks for your hard work... programming that magnificent votingsystem and running the contest! :tu:

Cheers!

I just reviewed top 3 on my monitors..

Ok that's it...i am officially too old to follow this new world and current taste for "being good" :(

Apart from synth capabilites, i am finding tracks totally useless with a small percent of real art inside. And they hurt my ears badly. There is definite work there but overall they seem to lack any real character or purpose. Number one is impressive in some moments and that dude know his thing but i am likely to old or to much emotionally connected to times when songs where created with some character and good sound inside of them. They wheren't "driven and mixed in limiter from start"

Nothing to worry about my friends just an old eagle crapping itself inside out... :?

I'll have to re adjust myself if i want to stay in current mood wit hthe rest of the (young) people :scared:

Don't feel bad. You're not the only one. I too had trouble judging this contest. I was unable to keep my feelings about the music itself out of the equation. However, if I found that the creator did some really interesting things with the sounds, I scored them accordingly.

Ironically, outside of 2 tracks that I was totally out in left field on in relation to the rest of the voters, almost all my votes were right on point. Two of my favorites finished 3rd and 4th. Almost all my 5s and 4s finished in the top 30, So I wasn't far off. I think I can objectively recognize talent even if I'm not a fan of the music itself. Like I said, it was just 2 tracks that I totally bombed on. The winner's track to me was nothing but noise and that beautiful piece of music swayed me from the actual synth sounds which I guess really weren't that great.

I don't know how much older you are than me (I'm 57) but don't feel badly about being out of touch with this stuff. Think of all the music you lived through that many of these people have never been able to experience when it was new and can only experience it in retrospect. And that's if they even care to. I certainly have no desire to listen to big band music of the 40s.

Time marches on. It's an inevitable part of life.
