what 'signs' ?
All mentioned many times earlier in the thread - have a read through.

A buyout is the only thing that fits the pattern and the data we have.

It's not piracy (the 1.5 current version of Alchemy was never cracked and neither were the soundsets which are tied to the users serial number), the company had a good bank balance, the have acted in *exactly* the way expected in a major buyout (eg, exactly the same as Redmatica acted when bought by Apple), the share owner certificate at companies house was updated and refiled today (not available online yet though) and many other things....

In the stars naturally, Alchemy was released mid-December so it is a Sagittarius, in which todays horoscope says:

"Talk is cheap, so be prepared to follow through with actions. If you are good to your word, you will meet with approval and be offered favors in return."

Favors sounds like a money/buyout to me ;)

Well, guess it doesn't matter now, I'll name it, Ben was in talks with Apple last year about a buy out but as far as I was aware a deal could not be agreed.
May be they came back with a better offer?
Ben and the crew make incredible plugins so I'm sure they will pop up again doing something else

Well if Apple has approached them before then they clearly are interested in the tech and engineering talent, so that certainly fits the facts as to how they have acted today and how tight-lipped they are about whats going on.

Apple have scary lawyers, and would trash the deal in a heartbeat if CA didn't play along to Apple's requirements.

From my greedy perspective, it would be ungodly depressing if it was Apple. I just finished building a Haswell-E PC and Alchemy is my #1.

Hoping its not Apple.. as they'd do the same as they did with eMagic and pull all Windows support. ugh.

Heres the shiny new Alchemy and CamelSpace versions.. oh but you need to run a Mac now. :bang:

You speak from personal experience?

Gotta be a buyout. If the acquiror is a public company I would expect that we will hear from them shortly.

I speak from knowing how Apple operate, and from info from former employees and other sources, and from observing Apple's takeovers of other companies I had very good contacts with, or was otherwise working with.

Did someone say s1gns? :hihi:

In all seriousness, totally taken back the news. Alchemy is a cornerstone of my sound...hopefully not lost forever, even if I have to start running Logic to use it.

Except Logic and GarageBand, what kind of audio software does Apple make for OSX?

It seems the logical thing would be to incorporate Alchemy and other CA plugs into Logic, but Logic is already dirt cheap based on what plugs are included, so to only sell it to OSX customers would be ignoring a great market potential "over the OS border"

This is very sad news

Actually, Camel was bought by NASA. Alchemy2 is gonna be on board of the next Voyager, resynthesizing offensive messages in various alien tongues.

It made sense for Apple to buy Lala in December of 2009. Lala.com was shut down in May of 2010
