Yep, i miss that option too, pretty much standard in most synths. Would be quicker to just allow to modulate cents seperately.SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 3:32 pmCheers- I was doing that as well (depth) but it seemed a bit strange to me that 'semi' and 'cents' don't have separate modulators as all of the others synths I use do (Rapid, Serum, Falcon etc)dionenoid wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 3:20 pmLFO's and Envelopes have this slider on the right side, to adjust the range.SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 12:12 pm Anyone know if its possible to modulate just the 'cents' of an oscillator pitch? Seems to modulate the semi and even with the smallest amount its way too much for just slight drift?
So to achieve a slight drift i would modulate the pitch with a LFO, and make the range smaller with the slider in the LFO itself.

I have emailed them (support) to see if they can perhaps add the option at some point, I am sure it wont be too difficult.dionenoid wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 3:38 pmYep, i miss that option too, pretty much standard in most synths. Would be nice to have save options and/or presets for generator sections also, i can imagine that would be hard to implement tho. Right now you can build the craziest filters but there's no way to save such set-up.

Yes, especially as even the simplest snapin has a browser/pre-sets!dionenoid wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 4:31 pm Would be nice to have save options and/or presets for generator sections also, i can imagine that would be hard to implement tho. Second question...how do you do delay/fade with the LFO (again, one of the things I do very commonly with the cents modulation for delayed and/or fading in vibrato)
EDIT- worked it out (or one way at least) is to use the ADSR (which has delay) to modulate the LFO on and amount of LFO (I also get my fade that way)- bit convoluted but it works!

One thing that's nice about Phase Plant is that it's still evolving with major and minor features being added and the devs are listening to their customers. So I think it's a good idea to send Kilohearts requests and feedback.

Its a good (modular) frame work with a lot of potential, but it is still quite basic in many respects, especially the actual modulators (ADSR, LFO) and there is no MSEG, arp, sequencer etc. The filters are quite basic and there is no real modulation overview (lots of hovering!). I bought the reverb snapin as well, but it isn't great....they could improve or add another reverb.
So as things are Rapid will remain my go-to synth- (Multisamples, Granular, better filters, sequencer, arp and all of the fx are 'included' such as tracegate, tapestop, a really great reverb and chorusX) but I am glad to have PP and will enjoy watching it develop.

Phase Plant with all Kilohearts plugins does provide for a pretty complete synth, though a granular engine and more filters would be welcome. I use FabFilter Pro-R for reverb.

No doubt it's a good synth, but you are right, you really do need all of snapins to really be able use it to its full potential so people should take that in to account when they buy it!Fleer wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:56 pm Phase Plant with all Kilohearts plugins does provide for a pretty complete synth, though a granular engine and more filters would be welcome. Also many of the snapins you have to buy are not as good as the fx in other synths I use. Hopefully KH will improve some of these overtime as well as improving PP, as they are important to the sound of the synth overall.

Which of the snapins beyond what come free are needed for Phase Plant to be on par with other VSTs? Maybe not all of them? They have a resonator and a ring mod snapin, but some synths don't offer that.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Phase Plant is not my "main synth" either and I have not been using it much recently. I also have Rapid, but usually either reach for Dune 3, Avenger or Diva. In fact, I have recently been considering selling Phase Plant (Ultimate) because it's a lot of money considering and I would probably sell Rapid, if it weren't NFR. It's not really features that I'm missing in any of them, but the synths that I mentioned above just have a character that really speaks to me. The reason I'm not selling PP is that it is a really unique synth that brings a lot to the table the others don't in my opinion. Also I'm worried about being ripped off and don't really need the money... so since the devs are pretty cool, I'm down with staying on board to see where the journey goes. And every time I do pull out PP I'm having fun. And the features and possibilities never cease to amaze me.SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:40 pm

I definitely want more filter types - many of them!! Most likely addition to get me to use PP more often again. Also I would really like to see more fx and sound shaping options in the generator section. I do think Phase Plant is a bit "incomplete" unless you have at least the pro-bundle and the Slice EQ and Multipass make it really "pop". I don't care so much about the granular engine - it's cool that it's coming of course, but I never end up using it in the other synths that have it. I really like Padshop 2 as my dedicated granular synth though.
I think the strength of the Kilohearts snapins only becomes apparent in combination with snap heap and multipass. For example you mention the reverb. In and of itself, the reverb is really basic. But you can load it into snap heap and combine with loads of different fx like (several) choruses, delays and reverbs to create a custom unit and can then add lots of modulation or multiband (mutlipass) if you like. Here is a good example of this:
Can you not use the LFO like an MSEG or arp pretty much?SLiC wrote: Sat Feb 13, 2021 7:40 pm Its a good (modular) frame work with a lot of potential, but it is still quite basic in many respects, especially the actual modulators (ADSR, LFO) and there is no MSEG, arp, sequencer etc.

This is my single reason for using Phase Plant not nearly as often as I'd expected to. It's all about ease of use for me. And this scrolling and hovering annoys the crap out of me.
