There are already a couple of iZotope grievance threads. Can we please not make this another one?

true. sorry.
back on topic.

not working for me -
nimbus
excalibur
UVI relayer - UVI says an update is coming but not sure when. they're updating everything.
GUIs of AU versions of some Klevgrand plugs do not respond. VST versions are fine
UPDATE: installed older versions of these PSP plugins and they work fine. - oldtimer, springbox, 608 multi delay - i emailed PSP for support and they sent links to older versions. had to run the installers more than once but worked fine.

strangely.. Ohmforce plug ins have fixed themselves in monterey and all show up w/unscrambled GUIs and work fine except for ohmboyz Infinity which crashes everything instantly.

I have been discovering that many developers do not realize that Rosetta 2 is optional. When you buy a brand new Apple Silicon Mac it is not installed be default. The first piece of software you go to install that has any aspect to it that isn’t native you’ll be asked if you want to install Rosetta 2. So it isn’t necessary to have it at all. I personally would prefer not to. Yes, Apple does have a couple Intel machines left, but I expect this to be done with by this time next year. Unfortunately too many developers rely on Rosetta 2 as a bandaid fix from Apple and lazily wait until the last minute to port over to full native or universal binary apps. I’ve never understood this as an Apple engineer. All the tools are in place for developers to jump on universal binary starting day one. That way they have both Intel and Apple Silicon covered.

I have not installed Rosetta 2 and I don't plan to.

I'm only using native Apple Silicon apps. I had to manually extract and install some audio plugins cause the installers required Rosetta. I like having Rosetta NOT installed because now if I go to install something not native, I get asked to install Rosetta. It's a good check.

Good news from Klanghelm...
Updates for all Klanghelm plugins, added native Apple Silicon (M1) support
Tuesday, November 8, 2021
All Klanghelm plugins are now running natively on Apple Silicon (M1).

Just to note that if Rosetta is installed already and you want to see what is running native or not Activity Monitor has a "Kind" column under the CPU tab that says either Apple or Intel.

You might need to reconsider that, given that many installers are still Intel installers, even if they are installing native plugins.

I can extract the files from the installer and manually install as needed. I did that for the Valhalla plugins.

That's … just way more trouble than it's worth.

Wasn't trouble for me... and of course you can make whatever choice you wish :tu:

Dunno, I can see it. It would be nice to know that Rosetta isn’t running on the system. Definitely more work but I can definitely see wanting to do this. I wouldn’t personally but I can see it ;). There is a way to remove Rosetta once its installed as well. Pain in the ass but doable.

I can see it too. Not feasible for me atm, but definitely yeeting rosetta asap.

My M1Pro MBP won't arrive until around Dec 20 anyway... so Ozone & RX can exist "sans Rosetta" from the first install.

My new machine? Rosetta? No-setta.

Sort of became my own Santa on the timing of this.

There’s no downside to installing Rosetta 2. It’s not like Rosetta 1 back in 2006.
