Yes. Here is a screenshot of the settings. I tried with different format like SFZ to SF2, SFZ to WAV, etc. with no successmoss wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:05 pmDid you select the correct source format?mgamache wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 11:12 pm Hello,
When I installed ConvertWithMoss a fer months ago, everything worked. However, I noticed that I cannot convert anymore since I installed the latest version 12.1.0. Whenever I click on "Convert", I see the Analyse windows and a ConvertWithMoss.log is being created in the Destination folder, but there are no conversion at all. Only the log file appears. I am using a Mac M1, with Sonoma 14.5. I switched back to a previous version like 10.6 but it still not working.
I did follow the Mac installation instructions about the security issue.

Only the Sampler, old UltraBeat, Alchemy, in Logic, reads .exs files. There is no more fugly and dated EXS24 Sampler in Logic, for years now. The file format is .exs, not EXS24.
I see. Will you still add the additional new Logic Sampler parameters in a future update?
Convertwithmoss, combined with TX16Wx's Sampler, is a great free combo for converting old AKAI CD-ROM's. It works well most of the time.
Is it possible to add AKAI, E-MU, Ensoniq, Roland, ISO, NRG, IMG, support as well?

Sure. But this is a HUGE amount of work. Most of these formats are not publicly documented and it takes a lot of time to decipher them (Weeks, Months, Years). Which is true for the new Logic Sampler as well.Acid4Life wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 4:01 pmmoss wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:39 pmIt is actually the old original EXS24 format. I bet it's a lot of work. I'm glad you released convertwithmoss for macOS, it has helped me a lot with time consuming conversions.
I'm sure you will get help from others. If you need some .exs files from Logic Pro 11's Sampler, with different settings to analyse, I could send you that. Let me know if that is needed.

ConvertWithMoss 12.2.0 is online!
Get it from https://mossgrabers.de

- Fixed: Sample files with problematic characters in their name got updated accordingly but not the references to them.
- Ableton ADV
- Fixed: Reading: Velocity range settings did overwrite the key range settings.
- Kontakt 1/2
- Fixed: Improved detection of metadata like name, category and description.
- Kontakt 5-7
- New: Reading amplitude and pitch envelopes is now supported.
- New: Added automatically finding samples with wrong absolute or relative paths.
- Fixed: Monolith NKIs which referenced a NCM file more than once could not be converted.
- Fixed: AIFF files could be treated as WAV files.
- WAV - Read
- Fixed: Split stereo files were not combined to stereo file instead only the left side was included.
- Fixed: Samples could (still) have doubled file endings (.wav.wav).
- Waldorf QPat

I had to fall back to the previous version on install, because I could not find a current stable debian package for libasound2t64.
If I can find time, I will dig more for options. I'm running current debian 12 with kxstudio repos added.

This issue has been fixed with v12.1.0 - great!Schrödinger's Cat wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:55 pmSource and Destination do exist, the paths are simple and short ("E:\Test" for source and "E:\Test-SFZ" for output). The conversion runs without a problem. Here's a gif demonstrating the situation:moss wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 9:13 pm What is your output folder? Does this message also appear when you do a conversion?
ConvertWithMoss-Analyse.gif
With v12.2.0, there's now a small UX niggle when using the Analyze feature before executing a conversion. It'll create a log file in the output directory (which I really appreciate). When you then start the conversion, you'll get "The output folder is not empty. Please select an empty folder." because the log file is already in there. Would it be possible to check if the directory only contains the ConvertWithMoss.log and in that case not show the error message?

I converted a simple Kontakt patch (unencrypted, no scripts) to NN-XT/.sxt. The converted file loads successfully in Reason 13 (yay!) but there are three issues with the conversion using v11.7.0:I can upload the original and converted patch privately if that helps.
- The Round Robin setting from the nki's groups is not converted to overlapping NN-XT zones. The respective zone's "Alt" setting is set to "Off" while it should be "On" for such zones: nki-roundrobin-settings.pngsxr-roundrobin-alt-off.png
- The nki's velocity curve influence setting of the groups is not converted to the NN-XT's zones, resulting in an extreme dynamic range in NN-XT: nki-velocity-reduced-influence.pngsxt-velocity-full-influence.png
- The nki's envelope settings are not converted properly, causing the NN-XT patch to have a much longer release phase than the nki patch: nki-envelope-adjustments.pngsxt-env-wrong-settings.png
The resulting envelope settings in the NN-XT patch (Hold: off, Decay: 1ms, Sustain: 0dB, Release: 4s) are not the default settings, so I wonder why it ended up with these values?
moss wrote: Sat Jan 18, 2025 3:20 pmThat's tricky. My algorithm searches from the end for the MIDI note and might get confused by the numbers in the brackets. You cannot configure this.bkart wrote: Fri Jan 17, 2025 2:23 pm Hello Moss.
after using the resampler pro amxd into ableton live for recording a multisample, I get some files with the format :
midinotenumber(space)velocity(space)referencepitch {recdateandtime}(dot)aiff
for example :
0 120 C1 [2025-01-17 144002].aiff
How can I configure the algorithm to organise my samples?
Thanks.
Brice
I suggest that you use a multi-file renamer tool which allows you to remove that part at once and also put a meaningful name at the front of the files.
I reevaluated this conversion with v12.2.0 and a variant of this patch created with Kontakt 3.5.
Point 1 of my original post still applies; the overlapping NN-XT zones don't have the their ALT setting set to true even though the Kontakt 3.5 patch uses round robin settings for those groups.
There's now an additional problem: only samples from Kontakt's first group are converted. Other groups will simply have the first group's samples duplicated. Here's an excerpt from the original sample set: And here is an excerpt from the converted NN-XT patch: Note how all samples end with 01 in the converted patch while the original patch has other endings like 02 or 03.
The Velocity to Volume influence (point 2) and the Release envelope settings (point 3) are much less off now, but still not exactly what they are in the original patch (12% vel scaling in Kontakt 3.5 vs 8% vel scaling in NN-XT for point 2 and 412ms Release time in K3.5 vs 1.5s Release time in NN-XT for point 3). Some of this could be because NN-XT seems to adjust its settings to perceived timings. My knowledge on this is vague and hearsay. Do you know if those differences are intentional?

Hello Moss,
I tried to convert an Akai CD to EXS for LogicPro.
ConvertWithMoss does the conversion but only creates the .wav files and does NOT create the .exs files.
Can you tell me if there's a way or I am doing something wrong? Maybe I need to set something in particular to get those necessary .exs?
Thanks for the suggestions...
> I'm not a programmer, but I believe that the .exs file is nothing more than a file that contains information to be given to LogicPro's ‘Sampler’: where the .wav file is located that it has to associate and load, its position/zones/mapping/performance on the keyboard... (C1, C2 etc.), whether it contains particular time sample loops (to loop the final part of the sound) and so on.
CDXtract used to do all this perfectly but no longer worked on Intel or ARM Macs.
You can download a version here, maybe it could help:

I knew I know this name... from ChangeIt/JV1080 decades ago. (Still own and use this machine!) Ok, I just tried ConvertWithMoss 12.2.0 under Linux (opensuse/tumbleweed).
Had to convert the deb with alien, but it worked.
Next idea was to try the deb under Debian Bookworm arm64 on a Zynthian (https://zynthian.org/ (https://zynthian.org/)), alas the deb is - while being java based - amd64 specific. I'll try to build it myself.
However, my target of interest is the Waldorf Blofeld WPC sample format.
(Blofeld with sample extension or Blofeld Keyboard)
I somehow hoped that might be similar to the other Waldorf formats, but I at least can't load the wpc or mid variant of the factory sample content:
https://downloads.waldorfmusic.com/clou ... 58F6GMAj4j (https://downloads.waldorfmusic.com/cloud/index.php/s/33B3t58F6GMAj4j) (mid)
https://downloads.waldorfmusic.com/clou ... 5ZiKSG6WNR (https://downloads.waldorfmusic.com/cloud/index.php/s/GLDtp5ZiKSG6WNR) (wpc)
From Waldorf I got the following:
"...
..."
As I am on linux only, do you think it might be a higher effort needed to add support for the Waldorf Blofeld?
BTW: Shortcircuit, (mentioned on the first page of this thread) is open sourced and currently worked on by the same team, that also prepared Surge for open source release, find it at https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/shortcircuit-xt (https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/shortcircuit-xt).

It is amazing how ‘CDXtract’ (only 3 or 4Mb big) managed to do all possible conversions perfectly... whereas modern software (sometimes 100/200 times the size of CDXtract) fails so often!
Too bad its developer did not update it for Intel and ARM.
